I truly appreciate the creative work by groups like this to keep alive our thinning heritage of traditional songs.

great music, and truly great cover art

It would be great if RP listed the songwriter  when providing the lyrics.  Some of these artists are notable songwriters, and some are performing others' songs.  Good to know, either way.

Just occurred to me: it could be time to retire the descriptor "all-female band" (as we did with with aviatrix, poetess, and such).  Bands already have so many adjectives in their description.

I always heard it as "Boys will come along, a dime by the dozen"

His work is so distinctive. "The Sultan of Shred" indeed!

This isn't quite the version I recall, even thought it's the same artist and arrangement. Something different about his delivery, and the pace seems slower.  Anyone else notice this?

I remember other songs that she recorded when she was with Pentangle and they were pretty good.
Are you thinking of Fairport Convention?  They were bloody great. (The woman singing with Pentangle was Jaqui McShee (sp?), and she had a terrific but very different voice)

She has brilliant moments and then she has treacly moments like this. "Fly away on the wings of an angel"... Chrissie, you've done better.

Good grief, he was 29 when this came out. So young, so mature.

Great stuff! But who is this "Bajka" listed in sidebar as the artist?

Co-written by Bono in case you were unaware.

Reply: I really wish RP would list the songwriters!

I always heard "puttin' on his leatherette shoes" which seems very Van Morrison.

Top marks to the arranger too. DIVINE.

Lyrics are posted but I heard only an instrumental track -- lovely & soulful.

Perfect accompaniment to a swooping tourism video of "Beautiful Wherever"...
