This song always tears me up instantly no matter who performs it, whether I like it or not. Eva Cassidy did a lovely, understated rendition which I like very much. A lovely voice, lost far too soon.
I did a tour with the Moodies many years ago and it really was a blast sharing the stage with one of my favourite bands from my teen years. Great music remains great...
I did a tour with the Moodys perhaps fifteen years ago or so and it was always a rush. Sharing the stage with one of the favourite bands of my younger years was a hoot.
One of the favourites of my youth, I got to perform with him a number of times in the 80s and 90s. What a great gent to work with! The last time I saw him in performance he had been ill coming into the show and sounded weak at first, but then the music took over. I swear in his old age he is just turning into music...
I grew up with Lightfoot's music, heard him live several times when I was in high school. We used to play his songs all the time in various combos. As an adult I had the joy of performing with him a number of times. A great musician and performer, but more than that simply one of the best songwriters, ever.
Avalon was my go-to beginning-of-long-road-trip album for years, still is sometimes. Best Roxy LP to my ears and this is the best song off it. 10 from me.
This is a great album, beginning to end. So much resonance in it and beautifully paced. We tend to forget albums taken as a whole in these click a track days, but I almost always put on an album and play it beginning to end.
People are mentioning Jaco Pastorius here. For one of the finest lineups of any band anywhere please watch 'Shadows and Light' on youtube with Jaco playing his awesome bass. With Pat Matheney, Lyle Mays, Don Elias et al..
Something a lot of people don't realize is that Motown radio was actually based in Windsor ON. WKBW was famous for Motown music.
Actually CKLW was the call-sign. I live in Windsor...
Amazing album, one of my faves!
