this album is outstanding. Just brilliant from start to finish. 3 Grammy awards! Brilliant production, the detail, the space in between. Should be in every collection

produced by Thomas Dolby, genius. Perhaps Segway into Screen kiss one day

This is just godlike. Brilliant. I remember the release back in the 70's. In a world of crap pop this was outstanding. I loved listening to it on Radio1 on the way to school on the coach.

Just so good. A brilliant album too.   A soundtrack to my life. Hard to believe this was 1982 as it seems to not have dated.  Look at what else was around in 1982 that sounds this good?

weirdly I remember this being my soundtrack to Christmas 1985. Played the album from a tape I bought (probably from Woolies) so release must have been earlier for UK. Never tire of the album. Gawd knows how many copies I've bought. Tape, CD.

Kirsty MacColl is a talent lost too soon in a tragic way. Love her work. thanks for reminding us how great she sounds

Hadn't heard this before. Brilliant, I've bumped it up to a 9 as it is so much better than the original. Its a new song in this light.

just excellent. When TD first arrived in 1982 to seeing him live in Bristol in 2008. Astronauts and Heretics in 93 is well worth. Not convinced? Try that fact he produced the Prefab Sprout Steve McQueen album. Genius

Seen these chaps twice over the years. Bath and Bristol. The Bath gig was acoustic 1st half with just James playing and singing. Brilliant. Pretty much have all they  recorded. Well worth investing some of your time to listen to.  Real Manchester type vibe which us soft shandy-drinking southerners have grown to enjoy.

The best of the 'Manchester' bands. A sod-sight more thoughtful and stands the test of time too.

We both thought Sea Change was a fantastically sad sounding terrific album. The Morning Phase sounds like he was coming through a difficult time. Also enjoy this album but Sea Change had an edge lacking on this, imho

If you hadn't heard Sea Change first, would Morning Phase be the better album?

Just bumped this up to 9
Outstanding 'stop you in your tracks ' tune

I know they are deemed to be miserable but if you lived in Manchester you would be. I tried it for a few years. Decided there was a lot of merit in being a soft, shandy-drinking southerner!   Plus Boddingtons! Please god NO.

outstanding album. Every track has merit. This is a great example.

This growing on me. They need a producer to 'breath' on their sound.

Great Album, this track stands the test of time. Really well produced too. Funny how a tune takes you to a time and a place. I am back on a United Airways, flying JFK to San Francisco in 2002 and this was my sound track. Long time ago, a very long way away from little England.

I think this is great but it just reminds you how brilliant the original is. The test of a cover is   does it take the song and re define it..?  Couple more listens and this one might
listen:
The Main Mix
