I like this. I like the rhythm and the vocalisations - most excellent.

Here in 2023 it was announced that Kate Bush will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which actually surprised me. I mean, she's a fine singer, she's had a few hits, but really?! Rock and Roll Hall of Fame worthy? From reading her bio, it sounds like she might've been a bigger hit in the UK. Also the recent resurgence of popularity from Running Up That Hill being played on the hugely popular Stranger Things series. But honestly, I don't get why she was chosen over so many other female pop singers of the day. I'm not saying this to be mean, just genuinely curious as to why she is being lauded like this.

With respect, Kate Bush is one of the biggest, boundary-pushing female artists there is. Have you not explored her large and varied back catalogue? She is not limited to a couple of hits that you may have heard! Many artists cite her as a key influence, and she has done so much inventive stuff that really she's a genre all of her own.

It's a little like saying "I don't know why the fuss about David Bowie as I didn't think the Laughing Gnome was that good"!

Sorry, I'm not buying it....just doesn't compare to the version by This Mortal Coil.

Agree, Liz Fraser's vocals were outstanding.

My first girlfriend introduced me to her way back in 1985, and more specifically her first few albums. The Dreaming is still my favourite Kate Bush work, it's a sublime mix of crazy and genius. Then this album came out, it STILL gets better every time I properly listen to it. And seeing her perform live in Hammersmith a few years ago - dreams do come true., kids!

O.K....I somehow completely missed this band all together growing up or in the past.
After more recently noticing them on here (thxRP) I was gonna make a (try too) joke about the "lack of creativity in the band name was a bit of a turn off" but actually the joke was on me. After looking into them more, and especially this album (I'm still catching up on the others)..... I have found this album to be simply, unbelievably, fantastically, wonderfully great, and pretty darn good as well!  A definite press play and walkaway and real gem for me if even 28 years late.

Not too late - they are still writing new songs and evolving - and touring too! We try to see them whenever they do.

Michael Steele's bass playing! As always, outstanding.

Still fantastic. Suddenly I'm 17 again with dyed red hair, not a care in the world and jumping around to this album. Thanks, U2!

I first met Tanita back in the 80s - I would just take the time to say she is still charming

Mellowed and matured, we are coaxing her back to a mic

Oh please do!

I was a HUGE fan of Sinead. From The Lion and the Cobra and on. I tried to get tickets for her debut tour in DC at what then called Nightclub 9:30.  It sold out in under and hour.. Bought all her stuff. Love it all. She was troubled. Interested to find the real cause of death.  I know everyone assumes she took her life, like her young son did previously.  But we will see. Anyway, she is gone and so is her presence and her hauntingly beautiful voice.  RIP

The Lion and the Cobra was an outstanding piece of work. Still sounds so good.

Great bass - and is this the first known hearing of the ubiquitous 1980s "chicken" rhythm guitar?!
