KD has such an amazing voice.  Saw her in concert this past summer and her live show illustrates how professional and entertaining she is.

I really like this song - agree with other posts that she's got a great voice and digging the bass line.

Now you're talkin'!  Love this tune.

I still remember exactly where I was and with whom when I first heard this album. Back in my formative years somewhere around 1976. Still love it!

Never heard of this artist before, but I like her.

Lovely, dreamy/hypnotic.  This is why I love RP; hearing something I never would have anywhere else.

Well that's certainly a blast from the past.  I'd love to hear one of the older versions of this song too, done in the more traditional folk style.

"10" for the genius singer and frettless base player.

Absolutely!  And a 10 for the genius song-writer and musician that Joni is as well.

I'm very familiar w/ this woman and her work.  She's a genuine talent, if tediously narcissistic.  I am also familiar with the work of the schizophrenic genius Vincent Van Gogh.  As are my now-adult children.  They also know who Joni Mitchell is, kinda, sorta.  My grandchildren will look at Van Gogh and be stunned by that hopeless man's talent.  They'll never hear of Joni.

Oh you couldn't be more wrong about Joni, joelbb.  She is a great talent in so many ways, and already her songs are becoming a part of the "classics" repertoire of various genres.

Completely agree that the definitive version of Matty Groves is Fairport Conventions'!  This was a nice take on it though.

Nice variation on Matty Groves, although I must say I think the Fairport Convention version is the definitive one!

Still loving it, after all these years.

Every time I hear this, I think how much he must have listened to Paul Simon.  Nice.

Hejira is my all time favourite Joni album, and love this song.  Her lyrics are intelligent, poetic and timeless; paired with an amazing voice and musicality.

Brings back more great memories... really love the piano and the vocals in this.

I'm not familiar with the original version of this song - but I think Peter Gabriel does a stellar job of it.
