Thank you PSD - so stunningly beautiful.  {#Music}

Neil is a master - the sheer musical quality, harmonies, chordal progressions and lyrics combined are astounding. There are some stunning tracks missing from your list Rebecca and Bill - if it's not too cheeky, I can recommend 'Into the Sunset' from One Nil as well as 'Faster than Light' and 'Try Whistling this' from the album of the same name. I'm new here - love your work

          No, the October Project. A very distinctive sound.

Her name is actually Zoe Johnston. She also sings on 'Swollen' by Bent - is on RP's playlist. Kind of a bit like Sarah, Marina Belica and Mary Fahl - but different.  I love them all! {#Cool}

The middle section - with its discordant malign meant - makes me feel the same way that religion in general does.

My God indeed.

So, the song has been successful in that way but I hope it doesn't come up on PSD again. Ever.

loving the end of this track - stand alone really.... not sure about the tumble in to the RHCP tho....

Must investigate more - like an Australian Ani diFranco with less vigour...

Brilliant segue from Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds - at least for those of us who are able to appreciate stately, strong melody and carefully constructed harmony! {#Meditate}

Upon reflection, this could be one of the greatest representatives of 80s pop that is still bearable to listen to. The people who compiled the Donnie Darko soundtrack included some great tunes. Grooving here :)  (why is there no emoticon for that?)

Elbow has a way of permeating a room with atmosphere that eases the senses, much like the soothing essence of vanilla. I'm gonna lay down and breathe deep now.

Agreed. Bliss.

And in response to the 'new nightswimming' idea, i'm with you too - is not so circular but equally pied-piper-ish.

The man with the pipes reminds me of Peter Gabriel too. {#Clap}

You need to see this man perform before you generalise about his abilities - his voice is occasionally quite a deep-blue satin, peaking and flowing about liberally while he 'shows off his chops'. This wee song is good, but it's not their best. As a live act - completely compelling.

seems like someone is trying to show off his chops on the guitar. the only problem is.............he doesn't really have em.

Nice one Bill,

From Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes (Live in Athens 1988) with Youssou n'Dour, originally from the Album "So".
to Kate Bush, who also sang on "So"

In case anyone feels like revisiting their opinion... recently read an interview where Mr Mayer stated that he knew he had to 'sell his soul' for the first few albums so that he could fund the unabated production of the music that he really wanted to make. Check out Continuum (2006) and the John Mayer Trio albums (good ole rocky-blues) and try not to judge him solely by the early pop stuff that has clouded so many people's opinions. There is magic in there - for me anyway {#Good-vibes}

Great song from my fave Jimi album (which, out of interest, I bought on CD here in NZ in 1994) - the playlist this morning has been awesome! {#Music}

Possibly one of the most beautiful songs I've heard. And brilliant for it to follow Nick Drake. I'm new here, and I love it {#Group-hug}
