I'm a guitar player and honestly I cringe when I hear Tim Reynolds. He's sloppy and not very creative. I'm not fantastic on the guitar, but I know and appreciate talent when I hear it. It should inspire you and fill you with awe. If he would slow down I think people would realize that he's a poor player.
I play some guitar too, but I only hope to ever get Tim's skill or creativity......
Mustn't have listened enough lately. Didn't hear this at all yet. Very interesting. Hope to hear it again, so I can see if I want to bump it from 7 to 8.
I guess that is true. I just can't deal with the Canadian accents - they get annoying to me after awhile. Blue Horse did not last too long on our CD rack. Oh well, to each their own.
Is that a common thing in the States, to dislike Canadian accents? From a foreigners perspective this is quite funny. I can't really hear the difference...
Well, whatever, I think they're great....
"Surfacing" was certainly not my favorite of hers, but even then I thought she was good. Fumbling... is by far my favorite. Let's hope she finds that level again... This sounds nice... How's the new album?
Sounds nice, but has a lot (too much?) influence of some British bands of the 80's, at least in the instrumental part. Think of The Cure and that period...
It's an allegoric and ironical poem. See, "train leaving the station" can mean many things: fleeing from bad things; the feeling of total evacuation after a healthy bowel movement; and so on and so forth. Now, when the song includes your mean old momma on board, wearing a cowboy hat, with a mullet, going across the Texas plains towards the Atcheson, Topeka and Santa Fe depot in Gainesville, TX, with you standing in front of the on-rushing train, holding your hands out in plaintive supplication, discovering you are naked as the day you entered this Veil of Tears from between your Crack-Addled Skank Mother's tattooed, pierced, and pendulous labia, hearing the sounds of the Grim Reaper fast approving you from behind using a diamond hard steel sharpening tool as Seen on TV on his razor sharp sickle, you finally realize that you have either reached the Coda of your Life and you are doomed to repeat this primal horror for all eternity ... OR you realize that you are actually at the Segue of a part of your life, whereupon you will reach out to destroy said demons and find True Peace in the Arms of Our Loving and Most Holy Baby Jeeeesus. Amen.
Please, go and write some lyrics for.... most bands anyway....
Wow, Bill. Only you would pull off an awesome segue between The Carpet Crawlers and this tune!
Sorry that I cannot agree. I usually like Bill's segues, but this one I cannot really appreciate. There is absolutely no comparison between this monotonous song and this Genesis gem...
Actually a nice album. Bit different than you would probably think, but I like it. Singing oten quite conventional, and guitars sometimes really loud. Good variety, in my opinion...
I like them. I like this song. But somehow, it's much better when hearing a song in between others, like here on RP, than hearing an entire album. I have this one, but an entire album is a bit much. And I don't have that quickly with other bands. Still, to hear it here on RP, is great....

Kind of improves the listening experience for me...
Actually, the album is great. I never really liked The Corrs, but this Equation album is wonderful. Much stronger than what I know by The Corrs.

Every era has its good sides. Unfortunately, this wasn't it for me...
