She sings this one like it was written for her. It's effortless, she just sails right through it.

The song gets a 9; the whole album and the trippy animation from Yellow Submarine gets a 10.

Ah, so glad I logged on in time for my daily dose of Nick Drake.

I've always loved this track. Pretenders did some great stuff, but never another whole album as consistently razor sharp as their first one.
Same. And could it be this track has never been played on RP before?

This guy is proof that talent runs in the family. His brother Sean is an excellent actor. I think his lyrics are direct and his music is unique and beautiful.
Hear, hear! I like Michael Penn's voice, it's distinctive in the same way as Neil Finn's.

How 'bout a little more Mardi Gras love today, Bill?

This is one of the most reliable sets on RP - As soon as "Banks of the Ohio" comes on, I know what's coming.
Too bad it wasn't a warm-up to Handcuffed to a Fence in Mississippi.

Yeah, my upload. Another gem, this one from Eldee Young on bass and Issac Holt on drums, the rhythm section behind the Ramsey Lewis Trio. This is pretty much in the Ramsey Lewis school of jazzy soul, though it is actually "Am I The Same Girl," by Barbara Acklin, with Acklin's vocal removed and replaced by some Lewis-style piano by Ken Chaney. As the Young-Holt Trio they had had a hit with the more r&b-flavored "Wack Wack"--here they get smoother and more uptown, anticipating the stylings of Philly soul. What a classic!
I agree. Awesome.

Is it me, or is this song in the RP version of heavy rotation (once a day)?

All I could think of was TMBG's "Lie still, little bottle..."

Dead Man's Party would have been a better choice for Halloween.

Sublime.

Sure do like Harry Manx, but he reminds me, irresistably, or Mark Knofler. Not exactly a bad thing, though.

Excellent trippy song, I am still trying to absorb its meaning... I have heard the Nirvana version of this one, but I first heard it years ago from Richard Barone (of the late, lamented NJ pop group The Bongos). His version is amazing as well; you can tell Mick Ronson is definitely one of Richard's guitar heroes.

Amazing song, as always. Thank you ex-boyfriend John, wherever you may be.

Excellent. This was on the Elizabethtown soundtrack last year, great one!

Amazing. Haven't heard that song since...maybe I was still living in NJ at the time.
