Great album, solid all around. Christine McVie is largely overlooked due to the shadow of Stevie Nicks, but she shines just a bright. Many of my favorite Fleetwood Mac tunes have her on lead vocal.
Pena wrote and recorded the song in 1973 for his New Train album.<1> However, due to conflicts between Pena and his label, New Train sat unreleased until 2000.<2>Miller decided to record "Jet Airliner" for his band's Book of Dreams album in 1977 after hearing the unreleased album via Ben Sidran, who produced it,<3> and who was formerly in Miller's band. It was concurrently released as a single, and reached #8 on the Billboard chart.
Good stuff; it's nice to hear RP play this and related songs throughout their rotation. A bit muted for the core dead fans as there are much better examples to be had of this combo (and others), but overall . . . solid effort boys.
We watched the The Harder They Come in college one day for the sake of it. A classic for sure, with the arguable birth of Ska. The soundtrack is the endurable part of the film, as the plot has largely been forgotten (at least on my part). Toots & The Maytals are part of Ska/Reggae history, and for anyone whom is interested in the roots of either genre should definitely check them out.
just what I needed right now . . . always makes me feel just a bit brighter.
great tune, a rarity to hear live. Almost positive that this show is from the fall 1980 runs at radio city or the Warfield.
The Joshua Tree is a solid album.

"Wish I was a headlight on a northbound train, I'd shine my light through the cool Colorado rain."

The lyrical poetry of Robert Hunter. Classic.
As much as I agree with you about Robert Hunter; 'I Know You Rider' is actually a traditional arrangement and was not written by Hunter or Garcia.
China Cat Sunflower —> I Know You Rider is a great combination thought, it will always be one of my favorites.
There are so many other Dead tunes I'd like to also hear in rotation, this just happens to be one of my favorites.
Lots of JJ Cale influence in their work.
