There are classics and there are pure classics. This is the purest. Interestingly, this song could come out today and instantly fall in the "teen angst and arrogance" genre -- surely going straight to Number 1. "What's your name? Who's your daddy? Is he rich just like me?" If that isn't all-time kick-ass arrogance nothing is.

As noted in many Arcade Fire song comments, they take some acquiring, taste-wise. Once duly digested, the band's creative excellence is a pure musical feast. I suggest going to Rhapsody or Music Match and simply loading those servers' top picks, which offer a super cross-section of AF listening.

I laugh along with those find it INCREDULOUS that Tom Waits could be accused of stealing sounds from anyone. He is the ultra-ultimate creative musical genius -- openly acknowledged as such by virtually the entire musical realm. The great part is Tom doesn't give a rat's ass if anyone thinks so or not.

A guitar is the same instrument for one and all. How can an artist achieve such a trademark sound, as Carlos has? Jimi may have been the greatest but Carlos has surely prefected, above all, an all-time identifiable guitar signature -- the sign of ultra-excellence.

Hear a huge touch of John Lennon here?

Hello darkness, his old friend ...things were so much simpler back then and Paul didn't need as much verbage to get his points across.

I hear the bigger names like this and can't figure why Dar Williams just doesn't get her due recognition.
