Remains an awesome track - both melancholic and joyous

Always a total 9 for me - grandiose, atmospheric and haunting

Memories, Memories. Still a classic, great to hear.

Lovely track - subtle, subdued, brooding.

Personally, this resonates with me so deeply and always has. Remains a fantastic track from a fabulous album.

One of AC's best tracks, where it all properly comes together, IMHO. And of course anything with SOC on is always a pleasure. She picks the BEST artists to collaborate with...

Strong, confident music from a woman with a truly, exhilaratingly bombastic sensibility. It comes together best when performed live. Lifts my spirit anytime...

Completely forgot about this band - massively and criminally overlooked.

I bought the 'Hand on my Heart' single from this album when I was a youngster and played it to death. Thanks for the reminder, Bill!

Amazon in the UK now have this for £9.99 - at last, because I couldn't face paying the imported price and I've been dying to get hold of it after hearing it on RP. Phew...

Where do I know this song from (in the UK)? Advert or TV programme?

Outstanding update of a classic - nicely done

Byrne's poetic lyrical genius shines particularly brightly through this one. Always loved his determined use of clean, simple language to conjure up unique, slightly off-kilter little worlds.

This is getting the blood flowing...

The original is one of the best tracks of the past ten years. Fact. This version doesn't add much to - say - Ray LaMontagne's version, but it's great to see a strong track rise above it's deceptively simple dance origins. By the way - the song reflects a personal experience. Make a difference?

Interesting, definitely, but perhaps a little self-conscious...Could do without the animal sounds, the bells and the rather prosaic speaking in the background, which is just distracting from what is otherwise a bit of a gem...see what she was trying to do, but suspect it means repeat listens would be just, well, annoying...

Haven't heard this for years and struck by how sparse it sounds. And simple...and how weak the drumming is...

Interviewer: 'Ringo, what's it like to be the best drummer in the world?'
George Harrison: 'Best drummer in the world? He's not even the best drummer in the Beatles'

Well, this put a smile on my face, not that I'd ever admit it. Oh...oops.
Posted 16 years ago by andycollingridge:
Seminal and there's just no point in listening to anyone else playing it...

No no no no no. No version of this is acceptable. A horrible, nasty mess of a record with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Urrgh.

A lively, interesting band cursed with a lead singer whose voice simply just isn't strong enough...
