Solitary Man - Neil Diamond

Neil - my biggest "guilty pleasure" even when I was a Nugent/Rush headbanger in the 70's (had to keep it low-key in front of friends!).
Lead With Your Bones - Ayla Nereo

Love it - unique....though maybe Sinead O'Connor meets Vienna Teng?
Flight - Casualties of Cool

Halah - Mazzy Star

Not "Blue Flower"....but not bad......
Flicks - Frou Frou

I really like Frou Frou...and Imogene Heap's solo work.....trippy!
The Fire Thief - Hem
Posted 20 years ago by lowelltr:
Didn't think Hem could ever top "Halfacre"....HOLY SHIT was I wrong! This song is an instant classic for me, and the best new song of 2004 not sung by Julia Fordham (she's in a class all by herself for me)

Not one of their stronger efforts....but I love this band :)
Soul Sacrifice - Santana

Santana? Gosh, I would've never guessed

Even The Losers - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

When this song came out, we used to do EXACTLY this:
"It was nearly summer
We sat on your roof.
We smoked cigarettes
and we stared at the moon.
I showed you stars
You never could see....
It couldn't of been that easy
To forget about me."
BEAUTIFUL!

One of the best Dylan covers I've ever heard. And very nice to hear this after Van doing It's All Over Now, Baby Blue..
hmmmm...must be a repeating stream - same sequence right now a month later..

What a perfect song.
I recently watched the Documentary "I Am Trying to Break Your Heart," about the making of YHF. Excellent Documentary about the hassles they had to endure to get it out. You can get it from Netflix.
Worth watching if you are familiar with the album. Has a lot of takes of earlier versions than released, or at least one of Kamera...
Can't go wrong with this one - "most excellent"!
Rags and Bones - Thea Gilmore

bought the album because of this tune and "Pirate Moon" also played on RP..
Quite a disappointment. This is certainly the best tune on the album and the rest are striving to match - if not blatantly imitating - it. The songs arent out right BAD, but none have the potential that this one possesses.
Same here - bought for Pirate Moon, which is a great song, but only found one or two other good ones on the CD....
Leave Me Here - Hem
Posted 20 years ago by lowelltr:
God, I love Hem, especially "Halfacre"..ethereal, and lovely. I suspect it could get repetitious, so I don't play it too often, but love them when I do...

Isn't it, though?? Another on my long list of CDs to get.
Pirate Moon is a wonderful song, so is "Juliet" from the same CD. IMHO, though, rest of CD is very iffy - aftr giving it a good try, I stick to these two songs and one othr "Eighteen Months"...
