dEUS

Deus (styled as dEUS) is a rock band based in Antwerp, Belgium, whose only continuous members up to the present day are Tom Barman (vocals, guitars) and Klaas Janzoons (keyboards, violin). The rest of the band's line-up currently consists of drummer Stéphane Misseghers, bassist Alan Gevaert, and guitarist/backing vocalist Mauro Pawlowski.
A bit perhaps, but I'm really picking up on some J.J. Cale vibe too. Excellent tune.
This is quite good. Does anyone know if their other music is this good?
Hey the_jake,
as a fellow-belgian I feel entitled enough to comment on this
dEUS is in fact one of the more groundbreaking bands we've had the last couple of decades.
Their early stuff is very good, think of a mix of more darker tones, sometimes with a heavy guitar sound (by which I mean both heavy distortion but also noise-driven) often followed by the melodic equivalent of the sky opening up after a heavy torrent.
Sometimes experimental, but often with strokes of genius.
Their line-up has always included some of the best musicians we've had in the country and Tom Barman is a bit of an acquired taste for many, but always delivers some drama (emotion).
I'm definitely not a huge fan, but whenever I hear one of their many gems, I always have to think hard on why I'm, in fact, not
Strongly J.J. Cale, except for the orchestral interludes. And yes, some Steely Dan.
Very nice!!
Has a pretty strong Steely Dan influence... tasty!
Yeah, it has a real 70's sound. An ease to the groove, but a solid groove. Tasty it is.
My first impression evoked Alan Parsons , I Robot.
Cover art reminds me of movie "Brazil" (ducts). Like song, too.
Scrolling down the comments I see quite a few other RP members agree!
I don't know what you are talking about?

. . . nice observation, it would have indeed. Just the thought of it ran a chill down my spine but sadly he is no longer with us.
