Energy 52
Energy 52 was a trance project of German DJ Paul Schmitz-Moormann (DJ Kid Paul). The project was supported by Cosmic Baby (Harald Blüchel), who produced, co-composed, and remixed tracks.
The project is best known for the 1993 track "Café del Mar" which became one of the most popular trance songs of its time, being remixed a significant number of times and featuring on hundreds of compilation albums. In April 2011, the song was voted number one by BBC Radio 1 listeners in Pete Tong's Top 20 Dance Tracks of the last 20 years.

The original is by Kid Paul (Harald Bluchel), as mentioned earlier. The credit goes to Energy 52 (as that is the alias he used at the time) and the song is indeed called Cafe Del Mar. This ambient remix here is done by Michael Woods who has done a number of ambient remixes like this. Michael Woods served as Matt Darey's engineer for a number of years (hence all the rich atmospherics in both this and Darey's work) and is also known for some trance numbers on his own.
Actually to really go back to the roots of this song, you need to go to ‘Struggle for Pleasure’ by Wim Mertens, which this is based on.
We like a party in Brighton. . .

I have this CD Single from when it came out, as well as several versions on vinyl as the remixes came out over the years. Some of the biggest remixes came out on a re-release from a label named Hooj Choons by artists "Three n One" and "Nalin and Kane." Big rave tune for a long time played by all the big DJ's.
Hope this helps.
...well, i'm disappointed - i ordered the CD pictured and linked above from amazon, received it this afternoon, and now, having just finished listening through it, can verify that this particular song/track/mix is nowhere to be found on the disc, just a bunch of thumping dance remixes...
...now i've spent the past hour digging around for this michael woods ambient mix, and still can't find a credible CD anywhere offered for sale... :(
Ahem - I qualify for Old Fart status too, and I have most (if not all) the Cafe del Mar albums. I'd love to hear more of this great stuff on RP.....
Having recently discovered RP and previously wore blinkers and focussing on blues/rock, this track came up the other week and I've been trying to source it ever since. Trying to obtain it is taking a fare chunk out of my state pension. Can I claim to be an old fart? Music has no boundaries and can be loved by all ages.
The only music I managed to produce during my teens. This mix is a bit boring and I don't like the new age sound effects, but that aside cool for RP to play this.
The only two stations programmed into my three internet radios
I have watched the sun set at Cafe Del Mar where this song is written about and its energy is amazing.... (Ibiza)
Love it, another classic from Radio Paradise Thank you guys
I’ve also searched far and wide for this particular edit but have come up short, the one I did settle on, which I have added to my playlist, is the ‘Michael Woods Remix Radio Edit’ on the 2013 ‘The Anthems Edit’ album.
It's just too ruddy short of a proper rave.
This is the truncated version - the original, which is 8.46 mins long, really 'let's rip'. Find it, crank up the volume, get your glow sticks out and PARTY!

I've been trying to source it as well. Just posted about my efforts.
