Joe Jackson

David Ian "Joe" Jackson (born 11 August 1954) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. Having spent years studying music and playing clubs, he scored a hit with his first release, "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", in 1979. It was followed by a number of new wave singles, before he moved to more jazz-inflected pop music and had a top 10 hit in 1982 with "Steppin' Out". Jackson is associated with the 1980s Second British Invasion of the US. He has also composed classical music. He has recorded 20 studio albums and received five Grammy Award nominations.

Joe is one of the most consistently fine and creative musicians working.  Nearly every album takes his music in a different direction.  In fact, my only real complaint about Radio Paradise is that Bill plays far too little Joe Jackson!

The entire double album is phenomenal. Love the swirling keyboards on this- the buildup to a crescendo of sound and feeling- to be matched by Joe’s snarling vocals- his derision at being a victim again. Great writer and performer....

This is only his second album. The ones that followed — Beat Crazy, Jump 'n' Jive, Night and Day, Big World, Laughter and Lust — are all excellent works.

Joe Jackson is just absolutely top notch, and this song sounds just as vital forty years later.

Funny, when you look at this particular track on vinyl, you can actually clearly see that insistent bass pattern on the grooves. Not too many songs that you can identify that way. :)

Look Sharp was an outstanding album IMO.  Definitely one of my all time favorites! Loved every song from start to finish, including this one. I kinda like this version as well.

I've liked Joe Jackson for so many years(decades now) used to buy all his albums, and I've always thought he was kind of underrated. He's a damned good songwriter and musician and he definitely has never tried to sound like anybody else. My 2 cents.

I swear I saw Joe Jackson in a Lahaina, Maui, bar while my submarine was anchored offshore in 1978.  We grumblingly paid our $10 cover charge and proceeded to be amazed at the polished urban sound coming from the stage, underneath a suspended biplane.

Don't know, could be a completely imagined event, as I had such a feeble grip on reality that week ...

This is a perfect example of why I listen to / support Radio Paradise.

Such a great rendition of this song.  Never knew it existed (this live version) until now.
