The Chords
The Chords are a 1970s British pop music group, commonly associated with the 1970s mod revival, who had several hits in their homeland, before the decline of the trend brought about their break-up. They were one of the more successful groups to emerge during the revival, and they re-formed with the four original members for a UK tour during 2010.

Response of the year.
And stay there, please.
I was kind of surprised when I read this song was by a 1970s mod band, especially since the song is from 1954... This would be the correct Wikipedia page.
Thank You for the info!

My 4 year old son loves this son - it is part of Pixar Cars movie when they are cruising down the newly paved road in Radiator Springs. We listen to it over and over in my house.
A well placed song.
Great song though!!
WHY?
Because I like it!!
One of my more useless classes in college, but more fun, was "History of Rock & Roll". The instructor, who had played with Buddy Guy maintained that this song was the first real rock & roll song. And it was promptly covered by The Crewcuts, a white band, so it wouldn't offend any white sensibilities.
This is closer to big band music, e.g., Cab Calloway, than RNR.
