She gone and dyed her hair red
She only went and did what she did
'Cause he would drive her home then
There's lipstick on her new dress
She hadn't even paid yet
But it doesn't matter where the money went
It wasn't how she paid her rent
One, two, three Marlenas
There's got to be someone we can trust out here among us
Now lookin' out across the city lights
She thought they'd be a good pair
Now he could make a living sellin' cars
Maybe she could work there
She's gonna pick a star in the night
And pray to make it all right
She tried so hard not to pick a kite
She always prayed to head lights
One, two, three Marlenas
There's got to be someone we can trust out here among us
One, two, three Marlenas
It's see no, speak no, hear no evil about us
The three Marlenas
Man, I think I'm gonna buy myself a Rolls
Maybe a Chevrolet
One where I can pull that top down
Just let my radio play
Now I'm headin' out on that highway
I'm goin' right out of state
Now ain't lookin' back 'til I'm gone
Right through heaven's gates
One, two, three Marlenas
There's got to be someone we can trust, here among us
One, two, three Marlenas
You see no, speak no, hear no evil among us
The three Marlenas
Three Marlenas
Three Marlenas

The Wallflowers is an American rock solo project of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jakob Dylan. The Wallflowers were originally a roots rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1989 by Dylan and guitarist Tobi Miller. The band has gone through a number of personnel changes but has remained centered on Dylan.
Following their eponymous debut album in 1992, the Wallflowers released what would become their best-known and highest-selling album, Bringing Down the Horse (1996), which included the U.S. radio hit "One Headlight," as well as "6th Avenue Heartache," "The Difference," and "Three Marlenas." Their next album, (Breach) (2000), contained "Sleepwalker," their only single to chart the Billboard Hot 100 at number 76 (previous singles did not chart due to Billboard rules at the time). The group released an additional two critically acclaimed albums before going on hiatus. In 2012, the Wallflowers reunited to release their sixth studio album, Glad All Over. Nearly ten years later they released their seventh studio album, Exit Wounds (2021), which charted at number 3 on Billboard's Top Album Sales. Lyrically, the band focuses on Dylan's introspection, exploring themes of nostalgia, heartache, anxiety, purpose and insecurities.
The Wallflowers have sold over ten million albums internationally and have won two Grammy Awards: Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Song for "One Headlight" in 1998. "One Headlight" is also listed at #58 in Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Greatest Pop Songs. The Wallflowers have been nominated six times for "Best Rock Song" and "Best Rock Performance." Billboard named "One Headlight" as the #1 Greatest of All Time Adult Alternative Song, and "Sixth Avenue Heartache" as the #37 Greatest of All Time Adult Alternative Song. The band has fifteen songs that have reached the 'Top 10' on Billboard's Adult Alternative Airplay list. Members of The Wallflowers have gone on to be in the Foo Fighters, Ozomatli, and Gogol Bordello; two former members have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Someday, Bill should just do a WTF set - close his eyes and click on five songs at random. I know it seems to some folks like he does this all the time, but there's always a method to his seeming-madness. He could schedule a "clash-day" set, in which he just picks five songs at random and plays them. Or, he could offer up a "listener-set" in which an RP supporter could submit a set and get it played.
Just sayin'....

I'm sure she would if she could (or maybe she's in a new place of infinite music?) I'm between 7 and 8 on this one, and sticking with the 8 cuz it's roadtrip music and it's roadtrip season in the PNW.
Long Live RP!! And RIP Ann aka Cynaera
Well, Mr. Petty was profoundly influenced by Dylan the Elder, so I guess it's like a full circle.

You're new here, aren't you?
Seriously? And who would upvote that?
I'm hoping the answers are:
No, not seriously; Someone who knows how to spot irony in action.
Good, not great. Nothing wrong with a good song that is enjoyable for three minutes.
I agree!

But many troubadors like him, as he followed the many that came before him.
