Nickel Creek

Nickel Creek (formerly known as the Nickel Creek Band) is an American bluegrass band consisting of Chris Thile (mandolin), and siblings Sara Watkins (fiddle) and Sean Watkins (guitar). Formed in 1989 in Southern California, they released six albums between 1993 and 2006. The band broke out in 2000 with a platinum-selling self-titled album produced by Alison Krauss, earning a number of Grammy and CMA nominations.

Their fourth album “This Side” won a 2003 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Album. Following a fifth studio album and a compilation album, the band announced an indefinite hiatus at the conclusion of their 2007 Farewell (For Now) Tour. Following numerous solo projects from the band members, Nickel Creek reformed in 2014 with announcement of a new album and subsequent tour.

Saw them 16 -18 years ago in New York open for Lyle Lovett, didn't know who they were then, and Damn were they awesome.

All of their albums are great!  They are collaborating together and also with Sarah Jarosz calling themselves "I'm with her" I believe.  So much talent.  They played Ravinia last year but darn I couldn't make it.

It has been fun to follow these 'kids' to see what they have become. Chris is simply a musical genius and have been part of some of the best recorded and live music put out in the last 20 years. His interpretations of classical music on the mandolin is simply perfect. Sara is a very strong part of I'm With Her band, a band that can only be described as a super group. It is unfortunate that Minnesota Public Radio had to cancel Live from Here (covid-19) because you could hear all these folks each week - among the best two hours of my week.

If you want to please  your ears then listen to Punch Brothers' cover of Josh Ritter's song "Another New World" - crank the volume, grab a bottle of rum, and close your eyes. You will not regret it. I wish Bill would add this to RP rotation.

This song is easily an 8 for me.

Unless you really do want Nickel Back right after Nickel Creek.
As an aside, I like Nickel back. They're actually quite good for their specific genre.

Saw these guys many time back in the day when they were the boy/girl wonders.  They've all gone on to do many cool things (and in the Chris, beyond cool).  I hear they're playing together again, would be fun to see them.  Sara is play Targhee bluegrass this weekend, but not going to be able to make it...

o.O  Like, how specific? Bands led by Chad Kroeger? Even The Suits XL could give Nickleback a run for its money.... money that has beavers on it....
