And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by one desire
I fell into a, a ring of fire
I fell into a burnin' ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burn burn burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire
The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
I fell for ya, like a child
Oh, let the fire burn wild
I fell into a burnin' ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burn burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire
''Let it burn!''
I fell into a burnin' ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burn burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire
The taste of love is sweet
When hearts like ours meet
I fell for ya, like a child
Oh, let the fire burn wild
I fell into a burnin' ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burn burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire
''One more time!''
I fell into a burnin' ring of fire
I went down down down
And the flames went higher
And it burns burn burns
That ring of fire
That ring of fire
That ring of fire
That ring of fire

Social Distortion is an American punk rock band formed in 1978 in Fullerton, California. The band currently consists of Mike Ness (lead vocals, lead guitar), Jonny Wickersham (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Brent Harding (bass, backing vocals), David Hidalgo Jr. (drums), and David Kalish (keyboards).
Emerging from the Orange County hardcore scene of the late 1970s alongside Agent Orange and the Adolescents, Social Distortion went on a temporary hiatus in the mid-1980s, due to Ness's drug addiction and troubles with the law which resulted in extended stints in various rehabilitation centers that lasted for two years. Following their reformation, the band shifted its style to a country, blues, hard rock and early rock and roll–influenced style of punk. Since its inception, the band's lineup has seen significant turnover, with Ness as the only constant member. After 46 years of performing, Social Distortion continues to tour and record music.
To date, Social Distortion has released seven full-length studio albums, two compilations, one live album, and two DVDs. They released two albums—Mommy's Little Monster (1983) and Prison Bound (1988)—before signing a three-album contract with Epic Records in 1989. Social Distortion rose to fame with their 1990 self-titled third album, which produced their well-known hit singles "Ball and Chain", "Story of My Life", and the cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire", and was certified gold by the RIAA. Many of their later albums, including their second gold record, Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell (1992), have also been well received. Dubbed by Steven Blush as "the Rolling Stones of hardcore," Social Distortion is considered one of the best-selling and most influential punk rock bands, with more than three million albums sold worldwide. The band's most recent studio album is Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes (2011), and they have spent more than a decade working on new material for their forthcoming eighth studio album.
Because Bill / Rebecca want to play it ... it's their station
She said, "Skip that one."
I said, "Why, I kind of like it.".
She said, "No one should cover Johnny Cash."
Right then I knew I had raised her right.
Alternatively as a student I recall putting this song on the jukebox as a friend came into the pub - he was suffering the after-effects of a dodgy curry the night before and did not share our amusement...
Long story. My daughter and I were on a nine hour drive from Reykjavik to Husavik in Iceland. We were well into it when this song came up on my playlist.

There's covers and then there's covers. Generally agree that most covers suck but there are some great covers of Dylan and cash out there, this is one of them
This cover is incredible... absolutely incredible... love it...

...but Johnny Cash's version is a cover itself! It was originally written by his wife, June Carter Cash, and performed by her sister, Anita Carter. Might as well say no one should cover her! It's wrong either way.
But this version is a tremendous improvement on the original.
I've seen Social D live many times, and they always rip this song! They're descendants of Johnny's badass nature, and it shows in this cover.
My thoughts are different on this. Johnny Cash does a great cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt" and I enjoy Social Distortion's cover of Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" just as much. By the way, Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" is technically a cover as well.
"Ring of Fire" is a song written by June Carter Cash and Merle Kilgore and popularized by Johnny Cash in 1963.
Johnny also did a cover of Nick Cave's "The Mercy Seat"--better than the original. Stops me in my tracks every time.
