You've been gone now a couple years
Well, I guess it takes a while
For someone to really disappear
And I remember where I was
When the word came about you
It was a day much like today
The sky was bright and wide and blue
And I wonder where you are
And if the pain ends when you die
And I wonder if there was
Some better way to say goodbye
Today my heart is big and sore
It's trying to push right through my skin
Won't see you any more
I guess that's finally sinking in
'Cause you can't make somebody see
With the simple words you say
All their beauty from within
Sometimes they just look away
And I wonder where you are
And if the pain ends when you die
And I wonder if there was
Some better way to say goodbye
Some better way to say goodbye

"Sitting here in tears. Dammit. Patty Griffin does that to me. I've just resolved to use any disposable income I have to see this woman in concert ONCE, no matter where she is (if it's Montréal, so much the better, but Sedona would be fine, too.) Life's too short to drink bad port. I think Ernest Hemmingway said that, but don't quote me. The point is, life's too short to miss out on the magic, and Ms. Griffin has it, to the n'th power.
Off to put my new computer on hold and look for tickets instead. *Tossing faerie dust over my shoulder as I go*
soft and yet strong, and worth remembering
c.
Oh man, yes, every time.
What a song!

Godspeed, Ann. We miss you.
Well said....one of the few songs that have a 10 rating from me.....she has an amazing voice....angelic. This song and her rendition of "Long Way Home" are absolutely amazing.
Those are the two that always slay me as well.

Bumping, but only because it's been too long since the last bump (even if said last bump was 5 minutes ago). Missing you and your perspective

I too have recently lost a loved one, my mom who lived until 100, early in April past and at this point in my life I just could not let the memories go so I've moved off my boat and into her and dad's house in which I've lived off and on since age 3 when it was built 71 years ago. Now they're both with me all the time.
