Locked in a kiss
Outside eyes cease to exist
We'll shut it out of the fist
Spying eyes cease to exist, we'll shut it out
Eight o'clock, the lights are on at Shea
Phone turned down, we've nothing much to say
Dozing off the TV drones
House key makes them turn and glance for home
Locked in a kiss
Outside eyes cease to exist
Flayed of the fist
Spying eyes cease to exist, we'll shut it out
Outside eyes cease to exist
We'll shut it out of the fist
Spying eyes cease to exist, we'll shut it out
Eight o'clock, the lights are on at Shea
Phone turned down, we've nothing much to say
Dozing off the TV drones
House key makes them turn and glance for home
Locked in a kiss
Outside eyes cease to exist
Flayed of the fist
Spying eyes cease to exist, we'll shut it out
Yo La Tengo

Yo La Tengo (Spanish for "I've got it"; also abbreviated as YLT) is an American indie rock band formed in Hoboken, New Jersey, in 1984. Since 1992, the lineup has consisted of Ira Kaplan (guitars, piano, vocals), Georgia Hubley (drums, piano, vocals), and James McNew (bass, vocals). In 2015, original guitarist Dave Schramm rejoined the band and appeared on their fourteenth album, Stuff Like That There.
Despite achieving limited mainstream success, Yo La Tengo has been called "the quintessential critics' band" and maintains a strong cult following. Though they mostly play original material, the band performs a wide repertoire of cover songs both in live performance and on record.

Once again, a hearty hats off to William and team for digging in the vault and dusting off some amazing and unheard tracks from many years ago. Loving the classic YLT.

Unless I'm missing something, the last comments on this song are from 18 years ago. Years! Does that mean it's been out of circulation that long? If so, that would make this a deep cut / back of the rack selection - I dig it all the more for that. Plus it's just a pretty cool song.

I could be wrong but I think the intro is exactly the same as (gulp) Band of Gold by Freda Payne (showing my age there) . Of course there are not many notes on a bass guitar....

Heard this the first day I got turned onto RP... still really like the track. Yes, it's the driving bass line, along with zooming effects.... Makes me want a hit of mesc while canoeing the Boardman on a sunny day, or maybe a nice CA coastal mountain run in the Jag with top dropped....
