song: All at Once (It's Not Important)
artist: Secret Machines
album: Ten Silver Drops
released: 2006-04-03length: 4:34
Underneath the sun there is a light
I'm feeling light, but I can't move
My heart's still in a crescent veil
A watchful haze in the rushing night
A silver studded torn and tattered gown
She ruled the room and I just stared
A warning roaring miles above
Hanging over a worn-out night
And though the words we spoke were few
We were feeling something strange
I swear I thought you knew
You said "Darling, how could you?"
Remember back when we first met
It don't mean much
All those things you said, you never meant
How could I forgive and just forget?
And all that time we spent I swear we wasted
It don't mean much
And all at once it's not important
What fell in place just falls apart
Again, I guess
Not having, I can only hope
It's only time and you know I'll wait
'Cause then it's like when we first met
It don't mean much
All those things I said, I never meant
But how could you forgive and just forget?
And all that time we spent we said we wasted
It don't mean much
I'm feeling light, but I can't move
My heart's still in a crescent veil
A watchful haze in the rushing night
A silver studded torn and tattered gown
She ruled the room and I just stared
A warning roaring miles above
Hanging over a worn-out night
And though the words we spoke were few

Secret Machines

Secret Machines are an American alternative rock band, originally from Dallas, Texas, United States, before moving to New York City. The original lineup consisted of two brothers, Brandon (vocals, bass guitar and keyboards) and Benjamin Curtis (guitar and backing vocals), and Josh Garza (drums). Benjamin left the band in March 2007 to focus on his work with School of Seven Bells, and was replaced on guitar by Phil Karnats. The re-activated band is a two-piece, with the remaining members being Brandon Curtis and Josh Garza.

This song doesn't mean much...to me.
Sounds like a half-baked movie music interlude piece that plays when the guy goes chasing after the girl or something else.

Has the Blue Man Group begun singing? VERY tedious.

It drives along and it's very listenable..but Yes it does sound like all kinds of other bands,
Talking of Machines does nayone recall the Soft Machine/ Name just made me think of it must be getting senile

No kidding, if it isn't something I've never heard before I don't want to hear it ever again, OK? Are we clear on that?! Familiarity breeds contempt, and all that rot!!

well spoken (or written, as it were)

Of course, any resemblence to any other band completely invalidates the music. That just goes without saying around here.

Everytime Secret Machines comes on, I stop what I'm doing to check the Playlist to see who it is. They catch me (in a good way, or course)
Me it's quite the opposite, except this song. Reminds me of the soundtrack for "Some Kind of Wonderful" in a way...

If it sounds like Arcade Fire, ELO, Decemberists, Modern English, or some derivative combo, it's all good to me!

after reading the comments below I've begun to surmise that many of you are taking yourselves WAY too seriously. . .
this a fun tune, performed well, and who cares if it sounds vaguely like someone else?

I thought of The Decemberists myself. The rhythm section I suppose.

"I'll stop the world and melt with you..."
So derivitive

Any chance of demonstrating that move for us? I didn't quite catch it from the drawing.

If you like Floydian light shows, heavy John Bonham drumming, and maybe a touch of Rush, you'll love these guys live. Actually their live show totally blew away their overproduced album effort. Worth seeing!
