Manu Chao

Manu Chao (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈmanu ˈtʃao]; born José Manuel Tomás Arturo Chao Ortega on 21 June 1961) is a French-Spanish singer. He sings in French, Spanish, English, Italian, Arabic, Catalan, Galician, Portuguese, Greek, and occasionally in other languages. Chao began his musical career in Paris, busking and playing with groups such as Hot Pants and Los Carayos, which combined a variety of languages and musical styles. With friends and his brother Antoine Chao, he founded the band Mano Negra in 1987, achieving considerable success, particularly in Europe. He became a solo artist after its breakup in 1995 and since then tours regularly with his live band, Radio Bemba.

I don't know if this artist is Spain-ish... but in Spain, someone who is WASTED all of the time can be called a "Golfo"... in case anyone was wondering about the shirt he's wearing... that's my guess.

This guy is a great musician, however, he had better times with Mano Negra and he has other solo albums (Desaparecido could be one) that are much better that this one.
Lately his songs sound exactly the same and his running out of ideas, taking phrases from old popular songs in spanis in all songs.
I also have completely different political views.  But again, he is a great musician.

I agree - saw him this fall at Austin City Limits Music Festival - he blew the crowd away and probably 50% of them did not even know who he was - terrific show

This is not his best work.  He does really good inspirational catchy tunes too.  I recommend Desaparecido.

He was one of the headliners at the first night of the Austin City Limits festival last night.  After hearing him here I went to check him out.

I generally don't give low ranks to songs because it seems kind of petty, but I had to rank this a 3.  The description of a 3 is "Ho Hum" and that about sums it up.  The performance didn't offend me, but after about 30 minutes I grew very tired and bored.
