You can't please everyone. You can't please everyone.
Where are you my beloved?
Come here so that we can see you
You shouldn't be ashamed of being lovely
Come here so that we can see you
You shouldn't love from far away
Come here so that we can see you
I know now that you don't please everyone
Come here so that we can see you

Amadou & Mariam

Amadou & Mariam are a musical duo from Mali, composed of the Bamako-born couple Amadou Bagayoko (guitar and vocals) (born 24 October 1954) and Mariam Doumbia (vocals) (born 15 April 1958).
Their album Welcome To Mali (2008) was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary World Music Album.
Amadou lost his vision at the age of 16, while Mariam became blind at age 5 as a consequence of untreated measles. Known as "the blind couple from Mali", they met at Mali's Institute for the Young Blind, where they both performed at the institute's Eclipse Orchestra, directed by Idrissa Soumaouro, and found they shared an interest in music.
Wow, might want to tune back into the Country stations.

You must be white. African and Afro-Caribbean music (including reggae)
is very repetitive in the general form, but within that form, comes the
beauty of improvisation and melodic and rhythmical point and counter
point. Many people with your taste also don't like bands like the
Grateful Dead, because you think it is so repetitive...when in fact, the
structure of the repetition gives the space to explore the unknown
galaxies! Open your mind man!
Going to see them tonight!

Sounds like a good show. Seen these two on Jools Holland, some time back, and they did a good show in that setting.
Tell that to Haydn, Bach, and Strauss. And ice cream doesn't, either.
This is most definitely an 8.
Just like John Lee Hooker?

Same here! Ugh!
Poor ignorants those who don't tolerate world music.
I think this is more Stevie Wonder than actual World Music. This is essentially "Higher Ground".
Reminds me of Bombino. Nice!
Yes! I can hear that. Thanx RP!
Agree with the "wow" but why throw country under the bus?
Here's the only other stream I listen to, Boot Liquor from SanFrancisco:

Thank You for the info!
I saw them last year in Paris. They played in a hall totally black: no light at all. You feel and hear their music in a very different way. Nice experience.
You Lucky Duck. I wish that I could have been there!

And in other news, milk doesn't come from cows, but from the supermarket.
Actually, archaeologists and historians (you know, those whack jobs who actually research stuff for a living), discovered flavored ice was produced in the Sahara dessert in ancient Egypt during the first dynasty in 2890 B.C., by placing thin clay trays with water on straw beds, which would freeze over night by evaporation and low night temperatures. True, the Persians later around 400 B.C improved the recipe by adding dairy products.
Last time I checked facebook. someone claimed (that was sarcasm) that both the Sahara and Egypt are to be found on the African continent. And, if you truly want to split hairs, those 3 guys descended from Africa along with you, me and everyone else. -Unless of course you're a hardcore creationist, then of course none of this will make sense to you.
Quid quo pro, uncle.
What an incredibly foolish thing to say. STUNNING!
Seems you know absolutely nothing about music and MALIAN/AFRICAN MUSIC specifically!
