İhtiyaç Molası was founded in Çanakkale, Turkey in 1995 by Taner Sarf (Guitar-vocals), Sinan Gürsoy (Bass), Tolga Çebi (Violin-keyboard) and Murat Güllü (Drums-percussion). The band had played together in various ways since 1993 before they consolidated into a permanent group.
İhtiyaç Molas took part in the compilation album "We Raise Our Voices", released by Ada Music in 1998, with "Çengi". After the album, they started looking for producers, reaching an agreement with Zihni Music. “MİLAD” was released in April 1999, created from an arrangement of previously made improvised works. MİLAD consists of instrumental and English lyrics and is described by music critics as "progressive rock". At the end of 1999, İhtiyaç Molası was forced into a 2 year hiatus due to military service. They released their second album “1.5” under the Çan Music label in September 2004. After another 10 years of silence, they released their third album “Doors” under Sony Music label in December 2015.
