There's no time to explain
I'm leaving on the last train
And heading out in grand style
Thinking I might be awhile
I'm looking out for the pearl
The one who'll come to rule the world
She's nineteen in blue jeans
Don't even know what love may mean
She's trying hard to get stoned
Her mind is coming undone
I'm looking out for the pearl
The one who'll come to rule the world
I'm looking out for the pearl
Do tell how it all ends
Where the road forks and where the road bends
So heartsick I can hardly speak
This road will be the death of me
I'm looking out for the pearl
The one who'll come to rule the world
I'm looking out for the pearl
Try to keep real calm, try not to shake my drinking arm
Try to keep real calm, try not to shake my drinking arm...

Wash your ears please.
David Byrne's lovechild with Bono...
Bono / Patti Smith love child.
Yep. Exactly what I was thinking.
John Steinbeck's The Pearl remains a timely, haunting parable (I read my copy about every five years). Brian Eno & Harold Budd's LP The Pearl remains a timely, haunting ambient masterpiece and is the musical equivalent to the final line in Steinbeck's book. You must seek it out if you've never heard it.
Ok Wolford, thanks for the tip, I love Brian Eno too so will seek out that LP.
