I'm gonna need someone to help me
I'm gonna need somebodies hand
I'm gonna need someone to hold me down
I'm gonna need someone to care
I'm gonna writhe and shake my body
I'll start pulling out my hair
I'm going to cover myself
with the ashes of you
and nobody's gonna give a damn
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
Now for seventeen years
I've been throwing them back
Seventeen more will bury me
Can somebody please just tie me down
Or somebody give me a goddamn drink
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
My heart was aching
hands are shaking
bugs a crawling all over me.
I'm gonna need somebodies hand
I'm gonna need someone to hold me down
I'm gonna need someone to care
I'm gonna writhe and shake my body
I'll start pulling out my hair
I'm going to cover myself
with the ashes of you
and nobody's gonna give a damn
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
Now for seventeen years
I've been throwing them back
Seventeen more will bury me
Can somebody please just tie me down
Or somebody give me a goddamn drink
Son of a bitch
Give me a drink
One more night
This can't be me
Son of a bitch
If I can't get clean
I'm gonna drink my life away
My heart was aching
hands are shaking
bugs a crawling all over me.

Interestingly enough I think it is a very very good band. One of my greatest finds last year. They make my day anytime
cheers,
Seriously though, try matching that clapping -- I don't think clapping is often a backbeat, it's usually on the beat...
My wife has a music minor and played symbols in the Big Red Marching Machine at Illinois State University (I played tuba)... she has some rhythm! She always claps the backbeat! I was taught to play tuba... I have no natural ability, and therefore, no rhythm.
SONNOVABITCH!!!.....
As do my kids... Luckily they think the chorus is "Sun on the beach."
Can't play that on FM! Glad we can hear it here.
Our local college music station has this as their 5-o'clock-on-Friday anthem. It's where I first heard it. They seem to have a lot more leeway in what they put on the air, and it's a better station for that.
As someone who has become sober, I find the happy and bouncy nature of the song disturbing.
He is asking for help.
I' m now 3+ years sober, and I still love this tune as much as the first time I heard it. Maybe you're in the wrong aa group. In my home group we laugh more at stuff like this, and our former drinking behaviours, than we do despairing about our former lives.
thanks Nate!
now, Somebody give me a goddamn drink!
cheers,
just saw a better comment down the line. But it is a
truly catchy song (while detoxing?) and some of us have been pretty
close to there...

I love this song, but drove my mom nutty me sing it. LOL
