This Sky - The Derek Trucks Band

Despite those who feel this band sounds similar throughout their catalogue this song stands on its own and is quite beautiful in its sound and structure. Many mediocre bands can have a miracle work of art stand on its own, when things just came together. This band however has the chops to creates these songs more than once. Great song, simple as that.

This guy is simply a genius. Wasn’t ready for him in the 90s, I had to catch up with him. Love all his styles.

I think KD has the most amazing control over her voice. It’s very moving when she can belt out one note and the next phase is soft and sweet.

Great song when it came out and still tops a list for me. Started out as an 8 but when i realized it is about Nick Drake bumped it to 9.

I reject the notion of others pressuring people to rate songs higher or lower. All art is extremely subjective and thus up to every individual to place higher or lower value on how the art moves them. This song is outstanding to me however that doesn't reach a 10. I guess my criteria for reaching 9 or 10 is more strict than others and possibly less than some, but thats the way it should be.

Freewill - Rush

I don't really understand anyone ranking a song they hear on RP low. If you don't like it move on and enjoy your next song... maybe. This is a great song for many reasons and you dont have to like it to acknowledge it.
Calypso - Suzanne Vega

I really appreciate how different SV is, her odd melodies and lyrical phrases are very compelling to the ears. This reminds me of other musical oddity geniouses like Joni Mitchel and Kate Bush. Love her music

A really good song with a hook that stretches its tenticals around me. Lyrics have personal significance that take this song to an 8 for me.

Love this band!!! Staley’s vocal ambiance adds such an incredible atmosphere to the songs and blends well with Cantrell’s guitar work. So many, I think, dismissed this band as just a bunch of hard rock and hard party kids. Soooooo much more here if you take the time to listen.
