I Feel the Same - Bonnie Raitt

A great combination of songs to play would be Raitt singing "Love Me Like a Man" (written by Chris Smither) and then Smither himself singing his response, "Love You Like A Man". All great stuff, the second being quite a kick in light of the first.
Seconds - U2

May I digress? I listened to this one time when I was much younger. A friend of mine (who turned me reluctantly on to U2) and I wound up at someone's house on the beach. We really didn't know the guy but around 4pm he said we could hang out while he went to work. So we did. Then we went out and got steaks and beer. Then we started inviting people in to eat and drink with us right off the beach - mostly girls we thought might love us. Soon we were all dancing (loosely speaking) on the second floor deck and having a grand time. Some of us left for places unknown long before the host returned but I'm sure we left plenty of party going for when he got home! PS - is this long-winded sort of thing uncalled for in this forum?
Don't Turn Away - Pieta Brown

Loved this tune - there is so much to listen to. I find one second I'm tuning in to the acordian and then her voice and then the guitar and at times that nice bass. Nice production of a simple tune - maintinaing its simpicity but allowing the listener to enjoy everything that's going on.

isn't that an awesome song ("A Pillow of Winds")on an album that doesn't need or get enough attention. And It Stoned Me - Van Morrison

Good song but it sounds like he is trying so hard to make the lyrics fit the song, like there isn't room for emotion in there. The same sound (horns and all) comes through in the two longs songs on St Dominic's Preview, the title cut and Listen to the Lion, but Van has room to growl and groan and emote (in the good sense). Try those instead sometime.
Rock Hard Times - EELS

remember the Seinfeld episode when they are making the pilot Seinfeld show? This reminds me of the music they used (or might have used) behind the opening credits of the pilot - kind of a spoof on the bland music that one might expect opening a perky, fatally flawed sit-com.
U.S. Blues - Grateful Dead

Cool little tune that played well in concert when it was slipped into odd places where a bit of levity was called for. Later, it became on encore that felt obligatory. My five year old daughter loves to act it out - waving the flag, rocking the boat... My oh my oh my.
Blackbird - Sarah McLachlan

I love that when you sing along with this song, you always sound as if you can sing as well as the best of them. At least to yourself. I rock! I don't think the whole soundtrack was very good but there were four really good cuts on it and this was one, I thought.

this whole set is exceptionally smooth and relaxing. I like it with wine and birthday cake.
