An urban legend is that Ring Around The Rosey started in the days of the Black Plague - The "ring around a rosie": the round, red rash supposedly the first symptom of the disease. They carried flowers and placed them around the infected person for protection: "a pocket full of posies." "Ashes" (Aa-choo?): a corruption or imitation of the infected person sneezing. Finally, "we all fall down" describes all the people dying. Many say this is a load of crap. Anyway, I love this song! I've never heard it on RP until today. Had to stick up for it, is it ever getting run through the muck here!
More than urban legend: https://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/onthefuture/A288966 That link also has the correct words I learnt at my Grandmother's knee. Most Americans seem to know a variation distorted by some form of Chinese whispering.

I always have to comment when you play PT. I have never fallen so hard for a group of musicians in my life! Playing Porcupine Tree makes my day! Additionally, I do believe they are re-releasing all of the old CDs which are hard to find (spent $50 on lightbulb sun about 8 months ago). Those CD's should be easier to find soon.
I first heard them (from In Absentia) on Paradise earlier this year. Now looking forward to seeing them live 30 Nov 2003 at the Astoria London. Any other Paradise listeners seen PT live? Any good?

I bought "In Absentia" after hearing "The Sound Of Muzak" on Paradise (yes, I clicked through to Amazon :-)) and was initially disappointed that the rest of the album wasn't as good.
However, I kept it at work for a couple of weeks and it has really grown on me. The first four tracks are great...

I have heared these guys at several Glastonbury festivals. Good mid-afternoon set material.
They work well in that setting. Not sure I would buy their music to listen to at home...
