I find this song as a whole outstanding, especially from the moment 1:40 onwards. Violin and piano merge in a sublime way and it is so uplifting that I cannot hold a tear being shed. Such a comforting melody somehow... maybe trying to tell me to go on, that life is hard sometimes, but that I should keep going forward even if the path is long and arduous.
Is it Bowie's best piece - no, is it Queens best piece - no, is it a true classic - probably not, but hell it's Bowie & Queen - sometimes you just have to rate a moment in time rather than the production - hence a 10 for me.
The pain expressed in the wavering, off-key pitch is deliberate. It's the point of the song.
Agree. Although it sounds "upbeat", clearly the vocals are extremely morbid and depressing. And didnt the lead singer (Shannon Hoon) ultimately kill himself?
Final thoughts, to me, Hoon sounds a hell of a lot like Perry Farrell and/or Robert Plant....
Just saw The Cult at Palms in Vegas last month. Ian Astbury voice was as amazing as ever. Had opportunity to meet him after the show and I appreciated his humble demeanor: very open, appreciative of his fans, and inspirational. Asked him the backstory for "She Sells Sanctuary" and he said "that it's better to keep it as a secret to maintain the allure." Totally agree with him .
I already liked your comment. But I felt need to also reply. I don't have a reason why, but to quote somebody i heard once say, "I love this song, that's all."
I like you.
Plus the that friggin bassline. Try just listening to the bassline.
Plus the ability of the song to transform me to some post-modern abstract cosmic utopia. fact.
it is insane for anyone to dislike all of Rush. Only the most ignorant would suggest such a thing.
Still I try to live by his words.

A deeply divided, racist, delusional society that cannot protect its Capitol from a mob of fascist goons egged on by Moscow's Man
Have a nice day
I don't like you.
Not a fan of that Stipe's personality, but do enjoy a lot of REM tunes.
Overall, this song works for me.
Is it Vanilla Ice's best piece?

(I think the indicated album release date here is wrong)
bob Dylan is the source......
Beck Sample to me seems to come from Van Morrison. My ears usually are not wrong!
William Orbit much?
I have to start doing some digging now...
