Steely Dan didn't didn't receive the acclaim that they deserved. They were a great band. Some feminists opposed this song, but it was just another love song with a twist. Maybe she was in a bad relationship and he felt he could love her better than the other guy, what is so wrong with that? It is just being human male or female.

As much as I hate the Gallagher brothers huge egos and their all too public petty disputes, I have to admit they made some great music.

They are horrible megalomaniacs. They seem to think they are the new Beatles which they are not in any way in any shape, form or fashion.

So many of you out there should do a little dugs or have a drink, or take a day and go to the beach or something. Anything to chill out, take the stick out of your a**es, relax and stop being so nitpicking. I can't believe anybody would put Lucinda down because she sings with a twang!! How about seeing the forest for the trees and realize that she is one of the greatest singer song writers of her genre and has been for the last decade and a half. Geeshh!!!!

The music is very good. It is too bad that it doesn't live up to your expectations

Ditto!! Everyone who likes MMJ or even who doesn't (might change their minds) should check out their performance on Austin City Limits. Great stuff.

How ironic that this classic album should be called Closing Time, for Tom it was just the begining. This song is absolutely lovely, on a fabulous record from one of the greatest singer song writers of all time.

I think if it was real bagpipes and it sounded like that I would like the song even more! People who don't like the bagpipes have never head truly creative use of their unique sound. They are just used to the stereotypical use of them

That's a synthesized guitar, not bagpipes.  I'm not sure if that alleviates it for you.

Too long? For what? To tell the story properly? {#Fight}

It is a perfect ballad 10++!

I can't disagree more strongly. Just the distinct vocal differences alone between songs that Keelor sings lead on and the ones that Cuddy sings lead on. Then there are the dark and broody songs, the love songs and the uplifting songs. Their songs sound no more alike than any bands do.

Regarding the R.E.M song it is very typical in sound of their early period.

All Blue Rodeo songs sound the same, IMO.  I've seen them often enough to even walk out on one of their concerts.  Meh band.

And yes, there are similarities here.

This track certainly doesn't have what I might think of as the identifiable R.E.M. sound.   Good track.  Surprising that it's them.

Definitely a hint of Genesis in this...

Takes me back... Great grooving song from the 80's (actually released in "79). Danced my but off to it many times.

Great album, not my favourite track on it but it is still very good.

I really don't like this song I  find the music and the singers voice to be rather irritating.

I hate the music so much and the relentless repetitiveness that I don't give a rat's ass about the lyrics, which aren't exactly earth shattering or anything anyone with half a brain doesn't already know.

It's a great version! I love how rootsie and sparse it is... really heart felt.
