This album truly stands out as valuable social commentary, even or especially now... I've always admired how, particularly in this song but also others from this record, they point out the officially sanctified structure that props up the blatant, self-serving hypocrisy lurking underneath the sham pretext of society's loftiest layers. What's more, they do it with such clever, snarling, satisfying disdain. The bloody Church of England/ in chains of History/ requests your earthly presence at the vicarage for tea... I love it! This still sounds GREAT at full volume!

Well, I just really dig this group and this album!!

Love this, especially as the song played for the opening and closing credits of Peaky Blinders!

First issued as a double A-side single with "Day Tripper" in December 1965.  Unbelievable!

This song is probably my preferred one since so many years. I’m 61 now and still have so much impact on my feelings. Thanks Radio Paradise

Also 61 and I also think this is one of if not the best Pink Floyd number.  Whole album is in my top 10 along w/Dark Side.  I remember when I first heard this album in my middle school days.  Nothing like it then nor now!

Interesting idea.  Having an eleven rating.  But only one song can claim it per account.  Might generate some interesting metrics.   @billG?

I have many 10s.  What single would be 11?

I'm in for my 11 too!

Just upped my rating to a 10.  I only give 10s to those classic songs that are not only great musically, but also great influencers for future rockers!

Too bad there isn't a special "Beatles" rating from RP.  This deserves a 10000!  This is nearly 55 yrs old.  Could have been written yesterday

You've gotta be kidding, only a 6.7 average rating!! This song rocks!!  Wilco rocks!! I've seen them live at least 4 times now.  You need to see them live to really appreciate them.

Just saw them during their Sunday's Winterlude concert in Chicago.  They are one of the best bands to see live.  Their musical style range is broad and unlike any other band that I know.  A great time for all!

Reading Tweedy's new book.  If you're a fan, even if you're not, it's a great read.

Let's get the rating up from 6.8.  He rocks...still!

So happy to live in the Chicago area, Wilco's home base.  I've been lucky to see them about 5 times so far.  Each concert is totally different and fantastic!

Just curious, who came first Chris Rea or Mark Knopfler?!  Haha...
And don't tell me that he's playin slide so they aren't at all the same.  Very similar vibe.

Just go watch The 3 part documentary Get back at Disney plus. We are so lucky to have that available after some many years

After watching that, and watching Paul just wail like no one else could or can, this has turned into one of my all time favorite Beatles tunes.
