Ride It On - Mazzy Star
Posted 17 years ago by Guero:
Mazzy Star / Hope Sandoval can do no wrong, IMHO.
When Fade Into You first came out, I was listening to the album on a road trip with my mother, because I knew she would find it inoffensive. About halfway through the album, my 62yo mother said, "This chick needs to cheer up."
Lucky Man - The Verve

One of my favorite songs of all time, off one of my favorite albums of all time. Urban Hymns is one of the best albumsof the 90s.
A Go Go - John Scofield

In my opinion, this collaboration from Scofield and Medeski Martin & Wood is better than either one of them alone (from a listenable-album point-of-view).
Alone they are prone to rambling, but together the songs are much tighter. A good album...
The Golden Age - Beck

A new classic, definitely.
This song has made it onto nearly every mix CD and playlist I've made since it came out. People always ask, "Who IS this? This is awesome!"
They are always shocked that it's Beck. In fact, I get asked that question more often about Beck than any other artist, that's how talented and diverse he is.
Aerials - System of a Down

whaa? If I want to hear this crap I'll go to the mall or the gym. Really, Bill - why?
Paper Tiger - Beck

Not the best track from this album - that would be Track 1 - The Golden Age, but a good one nonetheless.
This whole album is great - as is Mutations...his two "mellow" albums.
I enjoy his hip-hop parodies as much as the next person - in fact, they are often some of the best songs in the genre, but his genius is more readily apparent when he chills out.
