George is definitely on guitar, I like various songs but only have Imagine on CD and a compilation Yoko put together. He was trying to put out calming and good vibes with his music at a tumultuous time.
Thank you so much, JIan... I hope you are having a marvelous day right this minute...
I really really like the piano work on this song, and the melody is haunting... everybody in my church demands that I give this song a big 10, so I will acquiesce to their request... this is a beautiful song...
Saw U2 in Nashville a few weeks ago. Amazing show. They sounded great and put on an outstanding show. The sound system was so impressive - for an outdoor concert it was incredible loud and no distortion. The stage was also very impressive. I think the 360 degrees tour is over now, but if not, and you have the chance to see them, do it, you won't regret it.
Note, at the end of the show, Bono brought up a blind fan from the audience who was holding a sing reading "blind guitar player", Bono gave him his guitar and he played All I Want Is You while Bono sang. The rest of the band came back on stage and backed him up. Then when the song was finished, Bono told him to keep the guitar. What a great way to end the concert.
Interesting thought, and I'll add that McCartney had to record Band On The Run with just his wife, Denny Laine and engineer Geoff Emerick. The rest of the band quit just before they were to fly to Lagos to record the album.
Emerick's book makes the case that much of what we hear on Beatles albums was McCartney playing late in to the night, fixing up bits Ringo and George didn't nail, and working on his own bass parts until they were just perfect. It's no wonder his solo stuff sounded so good. He participated in all aspects of the production of the later Beatles albums, and had that experience to draw on. Lennon was just as much the perfectionist I think, but like the rest of the Beatles, possessed less technical ability than McCartney.
That's not to say I don't love the Bob Marley version, but sometimes you just need to hear a song sung from the other perspective.
I love this version as well. But I like everything Annie sings!
Actually Jesse Ed Davis is on guitar

That is awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Then ending reminds me of Strawberry Fields.
No Doubt!

Very interesting. Thanks for the insight!
You are better off without The Eagles' insipid music.
Sorry about the wife part
Agee with the Eagles comment!
I HATE IT!
Ouch, Can relate; lost my wife to my friend who constantly played Lying Eyes by The Eagles...Done with them to this day!!
Volume is wayyyy up... this is the voice of an angel...
Agreed!
and in the end, this is simply the best all 'round 22 minutes in modern recorded music, ever...
Could not agree more!!
