When I hear it "Heard of a van that is loaded with weapons
Packed up and ready to go". I'm scared because I understand the relevance of these words. I think Byrne is a genius. 10 for me, this song will forever be in my heart. Greetings from Ukraine.
Two separate times in the 90's my wife and I unexpectedly stumbled across the Femmes at free concerts at the Milwaukee lakefront. They remain two of the best concerts I've been to.
I've always wondered what this song's legacy in South Africa is. Is it remembered? Loved? Played? Forgotten? It's anthemic to many of us as outsiders, but how is it taken by those who live there?
I wish Paul would end his "experimenting with the music of other cultures" and become a simple singer songwriter with an acoustic guitar again.
I wish Paul and all the other artists would end their "making music we are comfortable with" and return to following their muses again. But hey. Ya can't have everything.
Saw them on tour with this album in Perth in '87. Had never heard of them before I bought tickets off a scalper. Peter danced so hard he sprained his ankle. An incredible introduction to an awsome band.

Somebody once said that 99.2% of all statistics are worthless.
I think Abraham Lincoln said that on twitter
I LOVE your music, Sting.........but, lyrically...........back to school, kiddo...as a STUDENT this time!
"Things they would not teach me of in college"
Seriously?
Why is that not grammatically correct?

If you'd ever had the pleasure of seeing Buckwheat Zydeco, you'd know that playing a washboard well is harder then it looks.
