Saw them last year in Galway, Ireland in a old ballroom called Seapoint leisure center. It was one of the best gigs i saw in my life. God bless Mike Scott and Steve Wickham ...even thought i am an atheist :)
Hard to believe this was produced by the same fella that did Joshua Tree. This has a very 1 dimensional sound, almost AM radio quality. Played on a good system doesn't help it unfortunately. Perhaps it was intentional, but it makes me want to turn it down instead of up.
In fact Joshua Tree was produced by Daniel Lanois and Brian Eno, this one was produced by Flood, Howie B. and Steve Osborne, that is why :)
Nigel Godrich did an amazing job on this album imho, stripping off all the usual Roger Waters/Pink Floyd overproduction, just leaving the bare simple beauty of his songs. There is not even a guitar solo in the whole album!

Gasp.
S*it!! i've been a huge fan of the Bunnymen for a looong time and i didn't know that!
No wonder it sounded a bit Doors-like ;-)
LOL. I guess you stay awake by thinking about elaborate and cruel ways to kill the lead guitarist.

reminiscences of the beginning in Creep (of Radiohead), it seems to me...?
Same chord progression, almost identical melody. Definitely an "inspiration" :)
RP bein' RP.
Same thought :) Thanks Bill for being there...
8 for me :)
Cute...
I think it's an understatement :)
This woman belongs in my special category "i almost became blind when i was younger listening to her"
Absolutely! :)
