Yaima is a Cascadian Folktronic Duo based out of Seattle, Washington. It was founded in 2014 by producer/multi-instrumentalist Masaru Higasa and vocalist/guitarist Pepper Proud. The name ‘Yaima’ has two meanings according to their website, one from the Mapudungun language meaning "that which water runs through”, and the other from the culturally preserved Yaeyama District of Okinawa Japan.

Yaima combines soothing female vocals and poetic lyrics with electronic beats and a showcase of instruments from all over the world to create a transcendent sound that’s great for listening to during introspective moments.
