Gipsy Kings

Gipsy Kings (originally Los Reyes) are a musical group founded in 1979 in Arles, France. The band, whose members have Catalan heritage, play a blend of Catalan rumba, flamenco, salsa, and pop. They perform mostly in Catalan but also mix in Spanish and languages of southern France, such as Occitan.

Although the group members were born in France, their parents were mostly gitanos (Spanish Romani) who fled Spain during the 1930s Spanish Civil War. They are known for bringing rumba flamenca, a pop-oriented music distantly derived from traditional flamenco and rumba, to a worldwide audience, and for their interpretations of English-language pop hits.

{#Stupid}  I'm trying to decide if I prefer the song instrumental as it is here or with lyrics... it's weird to hear it without lyrics but, at the same time, it is more pleasant to listen to, it sounds "empty" but more harmonious. ( Does that even make sense? )

Never warmed up to the Gipsy Kings. Virtuosity is undeniable, but for me it just never takes off. 

It also reminds me of what Wolf Trap has become (the summer season, not The Barns) compared to what it used to be.

Got hooked on the Gipsy Kings when I lived in Puerto Rico. Very melodic, almost soothing. While I prefer some of their upbeat songs, this worked nicely during lunch time :D

Love it; thanks, RP! It doesn't hurt now like it did for what felt like forever... My Mexican ex- and I used to worship Gipsy Kings daily. With us being isolated in the delightful wilds of Noto Hanto, Ishikawa-ken, their music was like a life-line for us. But not just for us; all the Mariachi bands and Latin Music performers we befriended as they came through our coastal mountain hot-springs and seafood paradise to play shows at luxe hotels such as the Kaga-ya at nearby Wakura Onsen also loved and played Gipsy Kings music with all the devotion and verve it deserves. From Guanajuato, Veracruz, Venezuela, or Spain, they all shared in its glory and story, and the Japanese locals and tourists couldn't get enough. What a band, and what a legacy!

For the life of me I couldn't place that song at first until I heard the lyrics "Bienvenido a Hotel California." The guy has a tendency to yell-sing lustily but he really nails it with that cover.
