Single Gun Theory was an Australian electronic dance music trio formed in 1986 by Jacqui Hunt (lead vocals), Kath Power (vocal melodies and synthesizer), and Peter Rivett-Carnac (guitar, synthesizer and sampling). Single Gun Theory pioneered electronic dance music in Australia, making heavy use of samplers and computers in their music. The band’s music combined elements of downtempo electronic music with introspective, ethereal vocals and samples of dialogue.
Single Gun Theory released three studio albums, Exorcise This Wasteland (1987), Millions, Like Stars in My Hands, The Daggers in My Heart Wage War (1991) and Flow, River of My Soul (1994) for Canadian label Nettwerk and Australia's Volition Records.
At present the band is not actively working together; since 2000 both Power and Rivett-Carnac have focused on raising families, and Hunt has pursued a solo career, releasing her debut album Auraphonic in 2008 and the EP Calisthenics in 2009.
