Alpha Yaya Diallo is a Guinean-born Canadian guitarist, singer and songwriter. He incorporates Guinea's rich musical tradition into his original compositions. Diallo has won two Juno Awards, shared a third, and was nominated another three times.

I love this guy and his family band, based in Vancouver and they are so fun, energetic and perfectly in tune. On a great day his daughters taught us how to dance. Mind you, that was a fair good time ago... The beauty moments stay with us forever.

Wow, it was 1996 and some friends and I were hiding in the bushes at Seattle Center, smoking a bowl at Bumbershoot. We were near the Mural stage and heard the most amazing African music. We emerged from the bushes and were enthralled with this guy's performance for the next hour or so. He had a gigantic band with him and rocked out on a Strat while the rest of the band jammed on a variety of African instruments. Incredible. Glad to be reminded of them!
