It must have been my time in the musical wilderness and bringing up a family that meant they got under my radar.
I like them and the singer's style - a more forceful version of Mike Scott of the Waterboys.
Wikipedia says they are still an entity but there is not much new music in the last couple or three of years.
Maybe I will get to see them play live some day on this Emerald Isle...
Whatever.
Caught Glen and the Frames live two days in a row in October in San Francisco. On Saturday night they played a killer show at The Fillmore, playing until almost 1:00AM in that legendary venue. His passion and commitment to the music come through in every song. The next afternoon he played a great set at The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, one of the great (and free!) music festivals in the world each year, outdoors in Golden Gate Park. At both shows Levon Helm's horn section were a nice complement to The Frames music.
I was at both of those shows too! A lifelong friend had told me how great Glen was live and I got to see it for myself in those two beautiful venues. I later got to meet and talk with Glen at an exotic erotic Broadway audience participation dinner/party in New York. He was a very cool guy who was humble about his success as a musician, and as an actor in the wonderful film "Once".
Agreed! First time hearing this... I imagine my 7 rating will change!
Marvelous ........ 10 :o)~ Connecticut .
This one, definitely a 9!
Absolutely, my friend. Superb material for my 'flu-ridden ears today. 9 from me, too.
Short is good, else I'd collapse on to my desk in a narcoleptic stupor
You seem so easily seduced into slumber, friend. Perhaps more sleep might allow more enjoyment from RP's "soporific" numbers?
you know they are the same dude right?
