Lazy Gilly was a flower child
All the summer
Calmly running wild
She'd be silly and her friends just smiled
Pass the bottle
Wash the pills down - what went wrong
What went wrong
She don't care no more
She don't need to fight it
She don't care no more
She gets paid on Friday
Cooler weather it's not cool to smile
Pretty colours
Going out of style
It ain't so bad when you get used to it
Once you clock in
You'll take any shit - all right
Ain't that right
She don't care no more
She don't need to fight it
She don't care no more
She gets paid on Friday
Monday morning
Friday's far away
Pray you'll make it
It's a magic day
Bells will ring and you'll go out to play
Spend your money
Pass the bottle
Friday rules

Ain't talking 'bout Monday

Ain't talking 'bout Thursday

Joe Jackson

David Ian "Joe" Jackson (born 11 August 1954) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. Having spent years studying music and playing clubs, he scored a hit with his first release, "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", in 1979. It was followed by a number of new wave singles, before he moved to more jazz-inflected pop music and had a top 10 hit in 1982 with "Steppin' Out". Jackson is associated with the 1980s Second British Invasion of the US. He has also composed classical music. He has recorded 20 studio albums and received five Grammy Award nominations.
This works on Monday too!
Joe's just blowing smoke!
smoke
Bill must have heard you...he's playing it on Friday 12/12/08
Great bass line on this one thanks to Graham Maby.
After listening to it twice, he looked at me and said, "You''ve gotta be f**king kidding me, right?"
I thought he meant that I would never be that good (which turned out to be soooooo true), but he was referring to his own skills. . . he was freaked. . .
Taco Bell!
You know, I used to be right with you on an artist shaming their legacy by selling a song to push "Mc-Food" (or "Mc-Anything"), but when a cool song never really was a hit (and some ad-man besides me thought it was good—like when Target Stores sampled The Suburbs' "Rattle My Bones"), or the song is so far removed from today's world, and/or a deserving artist never really had a shining moment with a nice payday, I guess I'm OK with it.
That said, you'll still never catch me in line at Taco Bell...
Could you please elaborate this philosophy of yours? I am ever so much interested to know what the hell this might be.
I believe Mr. Bauer made his philosophy quite clear, and I agree quite wholeheartedly, although I don't let it stop me from enjoying Joe's music.
It seems he's saying there are no toxic effects. I do have to wonder - it seems the indoor ban has been more about dealing a blow to the institution of smoking than on real public health.
I boycott his music on philosophical grounds, not that I was ever a big fan.
