Joe Jackson

David Ian "Joe" Jackson (born 11 August 1954) is an English musician, singer and songwriter. Having spent years studying music and playing clubs, he scored a hit with his first release, "Is She Really Going Out with Him?", in 1979. It was followed by a number of new wave singles, before he moved to more jazz-inflected pop music and had a top 10 hit in 1982 with "Steppin' Out". Jackson is associated with the 1980s Second British Invasion of the US. He has also composed classical music. He has recorded 20 studio albums and received five Grammy Award nominations.

Just what I thought. The only trouble is that it's too short as I found it by hitting the PSD button when Bat For Lashes battered my ears, and now she's back, wailing away like a banshee on a reality show.....{#Grumpy}

I am enjoying Joe's aggressiveness here. It's not going to outshine the original, but has a few more balls than that tepid Kottke version. And the segue into Pipeline: very nice!!

Joe's show at the Recher Theater in Towson is in the top 5 of my favorite concerts. As someone who grew up in Towson - when he played Hometown I nearly lost it.

I think either Bill or Rebecca likes to collect versions of Oh Well like baseball cards . . . I like a lot of Joe Jackson's stuff, and have always loved Oh Well for the guitar riff and the lyrics. Not my favorite version, but I give Joe a seven for a good effort and a good choice of cover.

I couldn't have said it any better. Please make this stop. otoh, Jimmy Page/Black Crowes covered it nicely, and I've heard bootlegs of Tom Petty's cover during his recent tour.
