Dustlands call
Telling me to turn around
Before I've lost it all
What's been promised true and grand
Is out there in the sand
Dustlands call
You don't have to search for it
And it don't give a shit
And when I'm back home with you
Dustlands gone
I put on a stranger's smile
But it feels dead wrong
And if you ask me who I am
I'll tell you where I've been
Dustlands gone
A land not down on any map
Such places never last
Dustlands gone
Unto this land a law was laid
And dustlands burned
High and low the bourgeoisie came
Their greed absurd
There are so many types of thirst
Some that warn and some that curse
Dustlands burn
And though I was forced to flee
It's true I once ran free
Dustlands call

The Walkabouts were an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington in 1984. The core members were vocalist Carla Torgerson and vocalist and songwriter Chris Eckman. Although the rest of the lineup changed occasionally, for most of the time the other members were Michael Wells, Glenn Slater and Terri Moeller.
The band drew inspiration from folk and country music, particularly Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young and Johnny Cash, but also from other types of artists and musical styles such as Scott Walker, Leonard Cohen, French chanson and Jacques Brel. Their sound was typically rich, with string arrangements and keyboards in addition to the standard rock instruments.
The Walkabouts achieved commercial success and a strong fanbase in Europe, where they had done promotion and extensive touring starting from the early 1990s. They occasionally even made it high on the record charts in countries such as Greece and Norway.
Thanks RP
RP is the kind of station to play holiday music off-season
LOL :-)
Thanks RP
In my Time of Dust I get Carried by Dust
Tedious and self-important. Gave it a 3.
There's more than a few comments on RP that are the same...
Agree. Very obscure lyrics.
Thanks for not having cuss crutches ;-). It makes it easy to listen to RP with the kids around. And used properly, can deliver on purposeful lyrics such as these.

There is a greater frequency of creepy music on Halloween, but that seems to be about it.
Reaching out to six years ago and I hear that as well. Although, "Flash and the Pan". Cheers!
Just tuned in to this..
Made me think immediately of R Dean Taylor..
But less drama ..
Cordialement,
From the lyrics:
"High and low the bourgeoisie came
Their greed absurd"
So, that'll be anti-bourgeoisie, not anti-human, the bourgeoisie being only one small class of humanity.
To think that greed is limited to the bourgeoisie strikes me as being somewhat naive. But I don't think recognizing that is being anti-human, either.
Agreed! I'm smiling!
