Amazing rhythm. Anyone who trashes it doesn't understand this man's influence on Jamaican music and how many subsequent artists have 'ridden dis riddim' to a chart topper.
just LOVE this song... I must thank Radio Paradise for turning me on to Porcupine Tree.... a band I would never hear on 'the clear channel' in these parts.
AMEN! I don't normally like music with guitars and not much else, but I love the heaviness with which these guys play. Never would've heard them on any other station to which I listen.
This isn't the version available on the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack.
About this version:
A version of the track was re-orchestrated with a choir and full orchestra for The Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers trailer. The piece, named "Requiem for a Tower", was made exclusively for the trailer and was not featured in either Requiem for a Dream or the The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. It was arranged by Simone Benyacar, Dan Nielsen, and Veigar Margeirsson. Although never intended for release, after considerable demand by fans this piece was made available as part of the Requiem for a Tower album release from Corner Stone Cues.
Yep. And they used the Tower version in the opening sequence on the LOTR: Return of the King video game as well. Creep factor +10 at the end of that when the song calms and Gollum says "Myyyyy prrrecioussss...." heh.
BRILLIANT! I have yet to hear a song by them that wasn't fun or didn't have some interesting musical qualities. Even if I don't like the song (which is almost never!) they sure are great to ap-pre-ciate! I say keep on playin'!
YES! Didn't know they existed until they opened at a Gin Blossoms concert when this album was released. WOW! Just so much energy and fun and by the time the "main act" came on stage and played it was so utterly anticlimactic and boring that I left the concert completely a fan of these guys. This album in particular.
Thanks to those that posted info on the song (below).. Unfortunately I'm one of those that really liked the Madonna version of this song...
Its amazing, having never heard this version before, I dislike it because I'm used to madonna's I wonder how I would have felt if I'd heard his version first...
...interresting.
I'm right there withya on this one! I love the Madonna version and this one makes me cringe. I was thinking he was covering her version and wondering why. Now I'm thinking, just, yikes. Maybe its because the lyrics sound so much more convincing and apropos coming from a woman?
The Cure's "Just Like Heaven" one of my favourite songs of all time, followed up with one of my new faves by this wonderful D&B trip/hop duo! THIS is why I listen to RP!
I love the way Lamb builds this song slowly and it is simultaneously soft and floating with the melody, yet frenetic and driving with the bass and synth drums. Such balance and then to throw in Lou's vocals...hey it could be Heaven!
There are some things from the 80s that I absolutely loved and still get my blood pumpin'! I can't help but like these ladies and that guitar is so fun!
Her voice drips around my heart like warm milky chocolate. "Nine Objects of Desire" was a brilliant album! And seeing her live in Vancouver BC at a small pub was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life.
Okay, grudgingly yeah, this isn't one of the better songs. How about "Caramel" or "Honeymoon Suite"?
Love her voice. Can't stand to actually WATCH her sing. Immensely talented and no matter if you hate her or love her, she's always spoken her mind & been truthful in order to stand up for what she believes in. For that, at least, I'll always respect her.
Being a fan of Reggae ~and~ Sinead, I was tickled as hell with her new album. So cool and surreal to hear an Irish brogue in a Rasta tune!
So, my question is, where can I find this version? If the Requiem soundtrack is different, and the Oakenfold sample is different, is the Kronos Quartet version on an album anywhere?
