Against The Wind - Bob Seger

Typically, I don't like Bob Seger, but this song is quite good and has come to mean more as I've grown older.

Hey, for Cheesy 70s Drama Rock, it's hard to beat a song like this. Tons of fun, if one appreciates this for what it is (which may not be what Queen wanted it to be...).

Yes, a song about Freddie dying is so much fun. I guess you put the "fun" in funerals?
Where Is My Soul - The Finn Brothers

I saw these guys in Nashville this past Saturday night. It is the first time I've been to a show where after the encore and the road crew began taking down the equipment that the band came back out and played two more songs. The road crew was not amused..... but we were!!! We wouldn't let them leave! LOL
And the show? Another religious experience for sure!

Yes I saw them in NY they are totally awesome!!! They do not have an extra person playing Bass. The keyboard player records the Bass track ahead of time and they play that recording along with them playing live. One of ther roadies verified this with me...
Thanks..... yeah, I noticed this after seeing them at Coachella. Doesn't leave a lot of room for mistakes. They sounded amazing..... basically saved the day for me after Snow Patrol and the Kills.

When I hear people praise the Yeah Yeah Yeahs I generally respond by telling them to listen to the Cocteau Twins, and then I get a strange look.
LOL..... I know that look. I get it all the time when I mention bands like Animal Logic, Aztec Camera, The Merrymakers, etc. LOL.....
The Book Of My Life (Feat. Anoushka Shankar) - Sting

Cookie-cutter Sting pop drivel. Please Sting, just sing Roxanne and Every Little Thing covers for the rest of your career. You are NOT a good songwriter.
Well, he DID write the two songs you mentioned..... so he must not be that bad of a songwriter, right?
Sting has been getting bashed on here because of his latest album. It's a shame..... while this by far isn't his best, many of his other albums are quite good.

Sounds very Sigur Ros. Except that I can understand the lyrics.
Yep.... thought it might have been off the new Sigur Ros CD.

sadly, that'll never happen now (RIP, Paul Hester). so glad I got to see them in concert back in the day. my favorite band, ever...
Was going to make a similar comment..... BUT seeing Neil solo or with his brother (on this last tour) had moments of that CH magic.

Part of diversity is including the mainstream.
Amen to that! It's nice to have something familiar mixed in with the unknown.... makes for a "just what the heck is he going to play next" theme.
I get SO tired of people on here complaining about "mainstream" stuff. Go start your own radio station if it is such a huge problem....

Exactly. One of the few songs that makes me stop everything I'm doing and just listen.

PS. I wonder what this guy did with the money his mom gave him for singing lessons.
Good Lord!
Give me that!

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your comment then..... :P
Here Comes Your Man - Pixies

Never really got into these guys (and girl) until I saw them live just a few months ago in Boise, ID. They were fantastic! Gave me an entirely different impression of the band... been "discovering" them ever since. I saw "Gigantic" on the LRC..... hope that one gets added!

Guess you don't love them as much as you thought..... this song, like anything else by them/Neil Finn, is a 10.
Try - Michael Penn
Posted 21 years ago by Mark1970:
Ok, attention morons below! Michael Penn is a very talented songwriter who has refused to give into the bullsh*t the music industry is all about. Perhaps mainstream radio is where your comments and ears belong. I'm sure Justin Timberlake could use a few more fans.
This song is excellent!
