True story: In '78 ('79) Disney re-released Fantasia to theatres. As I arrived at the theatre, it was total pandemonium in the theatre lobby: Kids screaming, toddlers weeping terrified, families fleeing the darkened theatre, angry parents demanding to see the manager ... and from the darkened theatre a loud funky thump thump and I entered the theatre just in time to see Michael-Jackson-Zombie doing the breakdown at the end with ensemble of dancing zombies with eyes rolling from their sockets, necrotic black tongues rolling around in toothless mouths, worms crawling from bony cheeks, etc.. Apparently, Disney had tacked on the new Michael Jackson video as an opener to Fantasia. Lovely idea.
Needless to say, after Fantasia, I stuck around for the next showing.
Wasn't this released in 1982?

my wife and i went to Austin for our anniversary, missed them by one weekend. I did buy their new album at a cool record store there. (can't remember the name)
Austin's a cool town, though i hope that it keeps it's character and doesn't grow too fast.

In the Meantime - Spacehog

This song reminds me of my first summer job...
listening to the radio in the old beater work truck, on the banks of Old Hickory Lake in Tennessee.

I really like this...but then I'm a sucker for certain types of pop songs. The musical equivalent of a good street hot dog with onions & mustard & maybe a (cheap) beer on a summer afternoon when you're hungry & your defenses are way down. And you know it's really not very good, but it's just so damn tasty and then there just happen to be some crispy onions in the mix that are EXACTLY the way you like them (and there are several crispy onions in this mix!) and all of a sudden it's a really...great...hot dog.
And as a cyclist, I like the cycle on your bicycle thingee too.
holy crud, you couldn't have said it better, especially since i just finished a chorizo sausage and some Mac and Cheese listening to this song.
Losing - Tina Dickow

i like this one.. i believe that it's on the Gone in 60 Seconds soundtrack- where i first heard this song, knew nothing about the band.

I always confuse the opening chord progression of this song with Bruce Cockburn's Open. Not a bad song when I don't have to hear it once an hour on the local radio stations anymore!
i know, i have to hang in there for a brief few seconds to determine which one it is.
this is not like the rest of filter, and even though it got a lot of air play, it's now off thier play list and is more enjoyable to listen to.
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfoot

great song- never heard of it until i read an article in the new york times early november. didn't hear it on RP until tonight.
i grew up in chicago, and an owner of a sail boat in chicago told me that the best sailors in the world learn how to sail in the great lakes because they learn how to adapt to quickly changing weather conditions, even in the winter. this shows how violent the seas can get inland- on a lake. hard to understand until you have been on the lake.
enjoyed the song, enlightned once again by RP
