I think this is one of the CDs I've listened the most in my life. Perfect from beginning to end, and marked so many parts of my life it's just amazing.
If I had to spend the rest of my life on a desert island and could only choose a CD, I would probably consider this one (along with a million others lol).

Weather With You - Crowded House

the main difference is quite a big one...harmony. squeeze's front men sang in unison.

Ok...it's a sing-off...in one corner Squeeze...in the other these guys....it's close but Crowded House wins on a family vocal chord just by a note....both quite good..

The songs you listed are all terrific, and should all be on the playlist here. So should I Feel Possessed, Weather With You, It's Only Natural, Better Be Home Soon and There Goes God. Of course, I could be wrong. :)
all good...and "How Will You Go".
Tales Of Endurance - Supergrass

Walking the Long Miles Home - Richard Thompson

RT is one of the most mezmirizing live musicians i've ever seen. seen him solo and with a band and, either way...he is a force!! his band is unreal too.
Four Seasons in One Day - Crowded House

someone, please upload "how will you go" from woodface...one of my favorites, but everything they touch is gold. i never tire of their genius.
San Andreas Fault - Natalie Merchant
Posted 19 years ago by ob2:
her voice has always struck me as insincere. can't put my finger on what it is that sounds "forced"
Rain King - Counting Crows

the production on this album (t.bone burnett) is outstanding. they didn't use him again and they never quite came close in subsequent albums. love this record.
I'm Driving - Chris Webster
Posted 19 years ago by ob2:
pretentious and silly sounding, especially after Diana Krall...
Babylon - David Gray
Posted 19 years ago by ob2:
great song...but not the best on this amazing album.
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree - KT Tunstall

must agree...extremely irritating in every way...
Won't Give In - The Finn Brothers

Oh....i love this...especially the break down at the end...
play more finns!!
Take Your Mama Out - Scissor Sisters
Posted 19 years ago by ob2:
this sounds exactly like "Philadelphia Freedom"...Elton John. You could superimpose the lyrics right over these riffs. a little cooler, though.

it is pure joy to find a station that loves the finn brothers. thank you! thank you! finally someone gets it! they are pure pop genius..

These guys remind me of Belle and Sebastian.
And that is NOT necessarily a good thing.
