Okay, don't pounce on me but, if this played at least once every day, that would suit me. My blood pressure immediatly starts a downward trend whenever I hear this easy-going, laid-back piece!

for you young 'uns out there, there was nothing like the sight of Natassia Kinski on all fours - groping to thjs tune. Produced during the late stages of disco by Girgio Moroder, thus the too polished produciton. song evokes more than the song...
Agreement here (about Natassia Kinski)! LOL I guess this particular track is a rehash - but still cool in the slower moments with Bowie's vibrato! Click here for the original soundtrack. Click here for the movie the soundtrack is from. If you are interested, click here for the 1942 original movie of Cat People.

This is exactly the type of shit I listen to and support Radio Paradise to avoid!
Huh??? Too bad for you....this is probably the only song that DOESN"T belong on your 1 Sucko-Barfo lowest rated list.
Shesdifferent, I agree with you. Like tulfan said, I actually do think that a lot of pure rap on it's own has no melody and therefore is void of musical merit. But on the other hand, a lot of electronica (which this album at least partially is) has sections of rap within a wider context of melodies and other vocal content and often, taken as a whole, such are very pleasant to listen to. Also, some rap, if one pays close attention, actually does become melodic at times. I guess rap purists might choose to not call that "faithful rap." By the way, this album probably fits more into the genre World Music. But there are touches of African, Electronica, and Rock on the album too. There are some very beautiful melodies here - such as the stunningly emotional track 4. Ma' Africa (featuring The Mahotella Queens & Ulali). (I have no clue what they are singing, but it is very cool.) Too bad I only see one album on Amazon.com from 1 Giant Leap. Have a listen to the samples on Amazon.com!
Editorial Reviews Amazon.com The U.K.-based musician, film director, and Faithless cofounder Jamie Catto and producer Duncan Bridgeman coproduced this impressive multimedia CD, which boasts an eclectic array of artists ranging from Senegal's Baaba Maal and New Zealand's Maori artist Whirimako Black to the king of ambient, Brian Eno. This project, the fruit of a six-month, five-continent recording spree, is a funky, folkloric, and futuristic mélange of sampled indigenous instruments and electronica. "Braided Hair" teams the rap-country vocals of Arrested Development's Speech with the daring pop diva Neneh Cherry. The South African mbaqanga vocals of the Mahotella Queens provide the Afro-rave underpinnings for vocalist Ulali's poetic pleas for African unity. The tantric trances of the South Asian syncopated tabla drums pepper the synth-laden "When You Dream," which features R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe and the Indian star Asha Bhosle. Boundaries of nationality, time, and musical genre meld into grooves for the head, hips, and heart that need no translation. --Eugene Holley Jr. From Amazon.com

Wish that I could like reggae more, but it's always the same bass lines, same chord progressions, and same drum fills.
Dinjaknow - all reggae is "set to the beat of the healthy human heart at rest."

Sounds like Catherine Wheel on quaaludes. I like it though.
I was just thinking that Bill segues are so masterful that, as you follow along from one song to another, you'll find your mind more easily accepting music that you'd have never thought you would like!

... This is an excellent song from Big Country's outstanding final album, which was recorded in 2000...
I hadn't heard of the demise of Big Country (who were pretty popular in Britain when I was stationed there for 9 years in the 80s-90s). I found this on AMG's AllMusic.com -
The England-born Stuart Adamson formed Big Country in mid-1981 following his exit from the Scottish punk quartet the Skids.... ...Adamson had problems with alcohol that contributed to his brief disappearance in November 1999 and announced his intentions to retire from touring in the spring of 2000, concurrent with the release of the limited edition Nashville Album. Later that fall, Come Up Screaming was issued on SPV. On December 16, 2001 Adamson was found dead in a hotel room in Hawaii. He had been missing for several weeks from his Nashville, Tennessee home. Too bad - the group will be (and has been, I am sure) sorely missed.

Ditto. I am a long-time Kate Bush fan but hadn't heard this album before. It is a bit more melodic than her previous works in a languid sort of way. Very beautiful!

I love listening to Kate's music - something from no other mold - very unique.

Mad World Michael Andrews (Artist), Gary Jules (Artist) Product Description This record was first heard on the 2002 soundtrack 'Donnie Darko' & this release has been much awaited since then. Roland Orzabel who wrote 'Mad World' & had a hit with it in 'Tears For Fears' has said that this version is much better then the original. The vocals by Gary Jules compliment the haunting piano riffs beautifully & proves why it is a clear favorite on the soundtrack. Tracks, 'Mad World' (non-LP Frayed Out Mix), 'The Artifact & Living', & 'Mad World' (non-LP Video). Sanctuary. 2003. From Amazon.com
The Tears For Fears version is listed on RP too - (click here).
